USA Network’s In Plain Sight TV show recently had its episode order cut from 16 to 13 installments. Is this a sign that the series is headed for the TV graveyard after three seasons?
Not necessarily. It turns out that In Plain Sight will wrap season three early for another reason. The Futon Critic was told by Universal Cable Productions, “John McNamara, executive producer and showrunner of USA Network’s In Plain Sight, took a leave of absence for medical reasons… John Romano assumed executive producer responsibilities for the remaining episodes. Given the unexpected change, we decided to end the season at a natural spot — with the surprising cliffhanger of episode 13.”
Season three will finish airing on Wednesday, June 30th. In Plain Sight hasn’t been renewed for a fourth season yet and isn’t necessarily looking like a lock either.
Last season reportedly averaged 4.08 million viewers but recent episodes have been attracting less than three million viewers. That’s certainly not a good indicator for renewal.
What do you think? Should In Plain Sight be renewed for season four or cancelled?

Love the show. Would hate to see it cancelled.
I agree with many of the comments, this is a fantastic show, maybe it’s one of the best kept secrets on cable…not the place to be. Bring it back for season 4!!!
I cannot believe that every time a witty, intelligent, well-written and acted show begins a run on TV these days, it seems as though it can never, ever solidly ‘get off the ground’ and gather a significant viewership/following until AFTER the decision is ‘in the works’ to possibly remove it from the line-up! ‘In Plain Sight’ deserves to continue to entertain all of us viewers who are ourselves somewhat witty, somewhat intelligent, and definitely incensed that every time we get a new show that ‘colors outside the usual lines’, it NEVER gets the support from the network/s it is viewed… Read more »
I love In Plain Sight. I very much look forward to watching it every week. It really is different and a nice change of pace from the typical cop show. Please bring the show back.
Perhaps we should let the USA Network know how we feel and, perhaps, the production company that makes the show, that we want to see more of ‘In Plain Sight’. It might help.
This is the best show USA has come up with since Silk Stockings. I can’t imagine why they would cancel it. Why don’t they quite showing NCIS 24/7.
I love “In Plain Sight”!!!!! I was very disappointed that we only got to see 13 episodes. So please finish the story and give us a 4th FULL season.
If they had run it more as a summer show the viewership would have been higher – they switched from Sunday night to Wednesday night and put it up against season finales of non-summer shows and expected it to do as well? Come on now….It would have been great to have it on Sunday night or move it to Wednesday and run it the same as Burn Notice etc.
PLEASE, PLEASE don’t cancel In Plain Sight. It is one of my favorite. Last season is the first time I seen the show and couldn’ts wait until March when it came back on. Again, PLEASE, PLEASE don’t cancel!
In Plain Sight is great! The ‘powers’ must not cancel this show. My husband and i look forward to this show each week, as much as Burn Notice, MAD Men, and Human Target. The dialogue is superb! So many programs have adequate writers, but this show, with crisp and snappy dialogue, exciting chemistry between the two lead characters, and bringing in the FBI guy for more tension makes for great program watching and anticipation. Many people will be greatly disappointed if this particular show is canceled. Please do not make this mistake.
I simply adore this show and the cast. 3 excellent seasons. They deserve a 4th one.
I hope this show doesn’t get cancelled. I didn’t start watching until season 2, but now I’m hooked. I am tired of shows like Burn Notice also. Please bring In Plain Sight back for more seasons.
Please renew it. The show has stars that are REAL and Act Real. I’m so sick of the usual fare on the big 3 newtwroks that it is refreshing to see actors potray the roles they are given. Can’t stand Kiera in the Closer. (Hair too neat and too nice of clothes for work!!!!!!
I love “In Plain Sight”…excellent show, great cast, it could use more promotion so it does not get cancelled. They changed the cast a bit this past season to concentrate more on the main characters, too bad, but still great. I will miss this show if it indeed is cancelled.
I cannot fathom why this show doesn’t get more veiwers. It’s smart, well-written, with great characters and plots. It should not be cancelled. Instead, it should be promoted properly so that people will know it’s on. I see tons of promos for “Burn Season,” which isn’t half as good.
