Long-running syndicated court show Judge Alex has been cancelled. The cancellation was confirmed by Stephen Brown, executive VP of programming and development for the Fox Television Stations.
“We would like to thank Alex Ferrer as well as executive producer Kathy Sapp and the entire staff for producing a strong daytime court program,” said Brown in a statement. “Alex’s extensive police, legal and judicial experience combined with his great sense of humor made for compelling daytime television for nearly 10 years.”
Judge Alex debuted on September 12, 2005 and features cases that are presided over by Judge Alex E. Ferrer, a former police officer, lawyer, and Florida judge.
The series is the lowest-rated of the five remaining court shows and will continue airing original episodes through August.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Ferrer said, “It was not my decision to end the show. I enjoyed doing the show and would keep doing it but, for many reasons, the company that produces the show wanted to move on. I am grateful that I was able to work with really amazing people like my EP Kathy Sapp and Associate EP’s Tera Roberson and James Glover; Directors Eddie October, Michael Dimitch and Art Bergel; Bailiffs Mason Burroughs & Victor Simon, my makeup, hair and wardrobe help that changed me from hideous to tolerable; incredible producers and associate producers who found great cases for me to try and so many others in our 100 person staff and crew who made the show a success. I’m also grateful to have so many great fans and friends, many of whom I got to meet; and I’m sure that I’ll still get to meet more of you at other events.”
He also hinted that he may return to television at some point in the future.
What do you think? Did you like Judge Alex? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled?
I don’t know why they cancelled Judge Alex show. I loves the cases, they hilarious and very interesting to watch. I thought Alex Ferrer was a very funny judge sitting behind the bench. They will be kicking themselves in the rear for mistakenly taking this show. There are way too many court shows and day time talk shows, but I really loved Judge Alex Ferrer show.
I cant believe they took judge alex for this new show bring judge alex back !
I’m so going to miss Judge Alex. Please bring him back. 🙁
I am a retired Private Investigator of 39 years and watch the court shows on a routine basis, of which Judge Alex was one of the best. Can’t believe they put on the Divorce Court program with Judge Lynn Toler, which is among the worst. Put Judge Alex back on and take of Judge Toler.

Bjorn, I don’t think you can get a response from Judge Alex here although I might be wrong. Does anyone else know?
I would say next to Judge Judy being popular Alex was next in line, and I actually preferred viewing his show above all. His show survived 9 years, showing that it was still popular, so the move to cancel the show made no sense, as he was Mr. Common sense, and handled the cases so well. I don’t even turn the tv on during the day any longer since his show is now gone. Just no interest now.
Thanks, I did not know his show had been on for nine years. Good to know.
Judge Alex was the best court show on TV. Too bad it was canceled……
While I was recovering 4 surgeries in 4 years it was the one show that helped me get through the days, I appreciated the daily education in law , families , etc. I will miss his show more tan others.
Wow, that is terrible. How did you ever manage to handle four surgeries in four years? That would totally freak me out. I can imagine that an interesting reality judge show can provide some needed relaxation . It also does not take the energy and concentration that reading requires. I read my Kindle a lot and it satisfies a different need from a good show that can be watched that instructs and entertains at the same time. I sure hope you have recovered from all those surgeries.
Loved the show. he will be missed. Too bad someone else doesn’t pick up the show.
Judge Alex court room show is one of the best. My wife and I enjoyed watching Judge Alex as we do other court room shows. Judge Alex experience on the street Police scene just added a different variable to his unbiased judging. Judge Alex allowed humour but was very strict and law abiding in ruling. I am as is my wife and I’m sure millions are very disappointed in Judge Alex ,show being cancelled. Hopefully the shows producers and sponsors will reconsider continuing the show people especially t.v. viewers should have more positive role models on t.v. Thank you, Larry
I watched Judge Alex since it aired. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that he let his litigants talk and argue at each other. It was annoying but it was a good show to watch to say the least.
The last good memory I have was the episode where Mason was laughing at this litigant so bad that Judge Alex couldn’t contain himself either.
I hope he’s able to have another court show.
I am sorry to see Judge Alex show go. I watched it every day. He was one of the best Judges that are shown on TV. He made rulings fairly and was very stern when he needed to be. He had a great sense of humor, but he also knew when to put people in their places….Please come back.
Iliked judge alex &I didn’t like him.I thought her was sarcastic worst than judge judy to me he always put his litigents down. And felt that hehad an attitude and thought who he was because he was a cop. Iwas wondering what happened to his show as I only watched it if one of mt regular shows weren’t on. So I don’t miss his show or attitude!!!! Now Judge Judy , that’s another story ,id miss her show as I watch it 7 days a week. She is the original queen of sarcasm. All the others try to copy.
You made me smile. Judge Judy is certainly the Queen of Sarcasm and I cannot get through the day without a good dose of Judge Judy. She is smart, sarcastic, and entertaining. Most of the time I agree with her ruling and that the litigants deserve what they get. As she says upon occasion, there is only one person on the show with “attitude” and it is Judge Judy. She controls her courtroom. However, I never thought Judge Alex was very sarcastic at all. He was forceful, clear, and to the point–and did not allow too much drama from the… Read more »
Judge Alex was my favorite court show, and I loved his intolerance to prejudice. He will sorely be missed!!
So disappointed to find judge Alex’s show was cancelled. It was the best one on TV!!!
Hope he comes back. We only come down for the winter and sure miss seeing him.
Loved Judge Alex, watched the show everyday. Really disappointed the show was cancelled. Judge & Mason kept me laughing. I will miss hearing Mason’s laugh. My.DVR recorded the show for to have the pleasure of watching after work. Hopefully, the cancellation will be a temporary one.
Did you see Judge Alex last night on Fox News (26 Nov) where he was interviewed in regard to Michael Brown and the Ferguson riots and looting in response to the predictable grand jury ruling? Very handsome and articulate. Apparently, he still has a good relationship with Fox.
