Long-running syndicated court show Judge Alex has been cancelled. The cancellation was confirmed by Stephen Brown, executive VP of programming and development for the Fox Television Stations.
“We would like to thank Alex Ferrer as well as executive producer Kathy Sapp and the entire staff for producing a strong daytime court program,” said Brown in a statement. “Alex’s extensive police, legal and judicial experience combined with his great sense of humor made for compelling daytime television for nearly 10 years.”
Judge Alex debuted on September 12, 2005 and features cases that are presided over by Judge Alex E. Ferrer, a former police officer, lawyer, and Florida judge.
The series is the lowest-rated of the five remaining court shows and will continue airing original episodes through August.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Ferrer said, “It was not my decision to end the show. I enjoyed doing the show and would keep doing it but, for many reasons, the company that produces the show wanted to move on. I am grateful that I was able to work with really amazing people like my EP Kathy Sapp and Associate EP’s Tera Roberson and James Glover; Directors Eddie October, Michael Dimitch and Art Bergel; Bailiffs Mason Burroughs & Victor Simon, my makeup, hair and wardrobe help that changed me from hideous to tolerable; incredible producers and associate producers who found great cases for me to try and so many others in our 100 person staff and crew who made the show a success. I’m also grateful to have so many great fans and friends, many of whom I got to meet; and I’m sure that I’ll still get to meet more of you at other events.”
He also hinted that he may return to television at some point in the future.
What do you think? Did you like Judge Alex? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled?
Bring Judge Alex. I agree cancal Bill Cunningham show
I loved the show….please bring him back!!!
I agree! Bring Judge Alex back!
I can’t believe you took Judge Alex off the air . You should have removed that stupid Bill Cunningham show. I hope another station picks him up .
I am so broken hearted that Judge Alex’s show has been cancelled. I couldn’t wait for the new fall season/new shows…..only to find out this bad news. He is a wonderful judge, and although he was enforcing the law, I found him to be so compassionate and caring to his litigants.
I surely hope another station will pick up his show!!!!! It’s just not going to be the same with him not being on tv. I as a viewer respect the fact he’s married…..wow, will miss that eye candy….. Smile! In all sincerity, he will be greatly missed.
Cheryl
I was shocked to see he was not on today, didn’t know he had been canceled. Then to be replaced with Divorce Court, dang. I’ll be watching news for 2 hours before Judge Judy comes on. Will miss Judge Alex much, liked him. They didn’t have a better plan.
Since I work I tape Judge Alex everyday and am extremely sorry to see that the show is cancelled. In my opinion it was one of the best judge shows on and don’t understand why it was cancelled. In the Baltimore area it’s being replaced by a show called The Test that I won’t be viewing. I didn’t even realize that it was cancelled until today, 9/1/14,
It stinks I love the show please have another station pick up the show
Terribly disappointed the my favorite judge show is no longer on tv. Not sure why they thought Judge Toler is a better fit but not for me. Won’t be watching. Good luck to Judge Alex and the crew especially his bailiff.
Totally agree with terry. Judge Alex was one of the best court shows.
I also am shocked how television producers have elected to cancel Judge Alex. In my opinion, Judge Alex was able to administer a greater sense of reality to his court cases which no doubt stems from his history as a police officer and law official in the state of Florida. I look at these other judges and even though they are good, they deliver court cases in a bland sense which is boring and making me watch something else. Let’s hope Judge Alex returns in the future with new and educational cases.
Won’t watch Fox anymore. Big loss. Great show. Judge Alex should have been promoted more my the network. Oh well, they don’t care what we think anyway!
I am incredibly disappointed that Judge Alex has been canceled. The judge is humorous and fair. Now, instead, we are subjected to hours of Divorce Court, where the litigants are not much better than the “guests” on Jerry Springer. What have we come to? I hope the powers that be will rethink this move.
I loved Judge Alex and am very very upset that his show has been cancelled. He is so much better than the ones that are left on the air. Wish someone would reconsider !!!!
I watch him every day really like his show Hope to see him on a different channel. Got luck. Alex
I was shocked when I turned my tv to the channel that Judge Alex comes on everyday at the same time, to find Divorce Court on! After investigating I found out Judge Alex had been cancelled. I was horrified that his show is off the air. I will definitely miss him and Mason terribly. They were a class act! I know I will not be watching Judge Lynn Toler. I will need to find something else to watch during that time slot because that judge/counsellor does nothing for me! Good luck to you Judge Alex Ferrer and Mason too!
In Denver Alex so far has been replaced with 15 year old reruns of Cold Case Files. Boo!
Everyone above me is right….Probably the best Judge show on tv. I think Judge Judy might be done too….and she’s executive producing some new 3-Judge show…it’ll probably be a flop without Judith Sheinland. I had a chance to be a litigant on Judge Alex….he was great! Been very happy Judge Joe Brown was cancelled last year and really can’t stand Judge Mathis with all of his expertise in CRACK HEAD CASES!
