Long-running syndicated court show Judge Alex has been cancelled. The cancellation was confirmed by Stephen Brown, executive VP of programming and development for the Fox Television Stations.
“We would like to thank Alex Ferrer as well as executive producer Kathy Sapp and the entire staff for producing a strong daytime court program,” said Brown in a statement. “Alex’s extensive police, legal and judicial experience combined with his great sense of humor made for compelling daytime television for nearly 10 years.”
Judge Alex debuted on September 12, 2005 and features cases that are presided over by Judge Alex E. Ferrer, a former police officer, lawyer, and Florida judge.
The series is the lowest-rated of the five remaining court shows and will continue airing original episodes through August.
In a statement on his Facebook page, Ferrer said, “It was not my decision to end the show. I enjoyed doing the show and would keep doing it but, for many reasons, the company that produces the show wanted to move on. I am grateful that I was able to work with really amazing people like my EP Kathy Sapp and Associate EP’s Tera Roberson and James Glover; Directors Eddie October, Michael Dimitch and Art Bergel; Bailiffs Mason Burroughs & Victor Simon, my makeup, hair and wardrobe help that changed me from hideous to tolerable; incredible producers and associate producers who found great cases for me to try and so many others in our 100 person staff and crew who made the show a success. I’m also grateful to have so many great fans and friends, many of whom I got to meet; and I’m sure that I’ll still get to meet more of you at other events.”
He also hinted that he may return to television at some point in the future.
What do you think? Did you like Judge Alex? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled?
I was very surprised to hear that Judge Alex was cancelled. I didn’t have any idea until, like many others, I turned on my TV and prepared to watch another funny and interesting show and found it not on the air. While I enjoy Divorce Court (for different reasons) and most of the other judge shows, I always thought Judge Alex’s explanations were helpful and he was never rude to his litigants — even when they deserved it. Personally, I’m hoping he gets another judge show, and soon, or another show of some other type dealing with the law and… Read more »
The same as all the other comments I have read, I too am very disappointed that Judge Alex was cancelled. He is such a bright, humorous and intelligent person and I often thought if I were ever to end up in Small Claims Court, I am afraid the caliber of judge would not compare. And having seen him on either a 2 hour Dateline show or 48 Hours (can’t remember which) dealing with a horrific murder case in Florida I was extremely impressed by the quality of his judicial and law enforcement background. His program was always a bright spot… Read more »
Yes I will miss Judge Alex. Wish his show was
still on. Hope to see him back. Or maybe
you can bring him back. I think who ever
made the decision to let his show go, made
a huge mistake.
I just learned Judge Alex was cancelled. His was my favorite show. I watched it every day.
I miss him already. And Mason too.
I don’t watch other Judge Shows for obvious reasons.
Judge Alex was the only one that made any sense. I learned a lot from him.
Thank you Judge Alex and I hope you will be back soon.
I am very upset that Judge Alex has been cancelled, it was my favorite Judge show and I watched practically all of them. I think he is the best Judge on TV. I always look forward to watching his court cases. I really hope that the people who decided to cancel this great show re-thinks their ridiculous conclusion to cancel the show and that they bring it back.
I am so sorry to hear that the show was canceled. I really enjoyed watching him and his style of court law.
I was shocked to read that Judge Alex’s ratings were low. Who determines these ratings? I hope it’s not the same sorry Neilson group, who had not (or have not) a clue! So, do they give high ratings to the mindless shows that are prevailing t.v. time? Judge Alex explains his judgements and seems interested in the people standing before him in need of a judgement. How many people were lined up to be on his show? If there were quite a few, that would say that people liked his show. And, even if his was truly the lowest rated… Read more »
Where are they getting their figures? I cannot believe this was the lowest rated judge show out of 5. I love Judge Alex (and Judge Marilyn). The rest basically suck. Both Judge Alex and Judge Marilyn are charismatic and well balanced, exhibiting fairness, humor, and empathy — along with kindness, and appropriate sternness when needed. I would not cry if they cancelled Mathis, Karen, or Judy (kind of like Toler but the show itself gets a little boring and disgusting alternately).
You got to be kidding cancelling Judge Alex. I was in shock when I went to watch it today and found out he wasn’t on. I have never been so disappointed. You people must be crazy cancelling his show.
I loved the Judge Alex show! If anyone should be cancelled, it should be Judge Karen, if you want to call her that. How in the world did someone so “ghetto” get her own television show. I turn the channel every time I see her peroxide soaked head come on. She is not fit to be on tv. Please cancel her and bring back someone who is a little more educated on how to speak to people properly, maybe someone who is a little more tuned in to the happenrngs of the world. I can’t tell if she is really… Read more »
I never seen judge Karen so I got on you tube. I think Mega-Ghetto
Is the word your looking for. Judge Alex is too educated for today’s
Audience where ignorance is bliss.
I am very disappointed that Judge Alex is canceled. I can think of many other shows that are in extremely poor taste. This show is clean cut and not so much drama as silliness like Divorce Court.
I’m so disappointed about the show being cancelled. I think It’s a big mistake. They should have cancelled divorce court instead,I think that show is ridiculous. On the show the case’s seemed more realistic. Judge Alex was also very pleasant to look at;he’s a hottie. I’ll miss him. I hope he comes back to television.
I thought it was one of the best Judge shows on the air. I will miss watching it and hope to see him back soon. You are the best, Judge Alex!
Yes Judge Alex is definitely one of the best. I was going crazy looking to see what network he had been moved to and/ or what time slot and to my surprise I found out he was cancelled. I hadn’t heard about any cancellation so I went on Google. Judge Alex I hope to see you soon on another network that deserves you.
I had no idea Judge Alex has been cancelled until today. I love his show! His rulings are so clear and seems appropriate to the offense. Judge Alex displays respect to his guest unlike Judge Judy while holding control of his court. Please bring back Judge Alex and Mason.
What can be done to bring this long running and loved show back to the airwaves?
I turned on my t.v. as usual to watch Judge Alex only to find anther show on. NOT HAPPY!!! And now I find out he’s been cancelled? You have ruined my day! This was, by far, my favorite show. I loved watching him. He was classy, had a sense of humor, was good looking, and very reasonable. Please thing twice before you do anything as ridiculous as this again. I don’t know how can say his ratings were LOW. He was the best. Put him back on, please!
