Tonight, USA Network aired the series finale of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Many who work on the TV show hope that’s not necessarily true.
Last Summer, it was rumored that the cop drama might be cancelled following a season of lackluster ratings. USA instead opted to bring Criminal Intent back for a 10th and final season of eight episodes. To cap the show’s run, it was also announced that Kathryn Erbe and Vincent D’Onofrio, who left abruptly at the start of season nine, would return.
Though USA has been calling season 10 the end of Criminal Intent, we learned in May that executive producer Dick Wolf wasn’t throwing in the towel just yet. He told reporters that he hoped, “enough fans will come out so the powers that be reconsider their decision.” Later, executive producer Chris Brancato noted that, “Yeah, I think if viewers are enthused about Vincent and Katie coming back I don’t see why it has to be the final season.” The ratings have shown improvement.
Erbe is also hopeful that tonight won’t be the end and would be to season 11. She recently told TV Guide, “I know that I would be there in a heartbeat. I’m fairly positive that Vincent [D’Onofrio] feels the same way. Everyone was really hoping that, in the 11th hour, we’d get some word… Whether the fans are able to muscle us back or not, who knows. They have amazing power.”
Regardless of what happens, Erbe is grateful for the chance to return to the series. She said, “I just know that these eight episodes were like a gift. To be able to come back and have closure with the crew and the cast and everyone… If that happens again, fantastic. It would just be like icing on the cake.”
If the series doesn’t come back, the actress feels that viewers will like this farewell to Goren and Eames better than their departure in 2010. Erbe notes, “I know we set out to make it satisfying… The one thing I know you’re going to see is that Goren and Eames are on much better, more solid ground. Healthier, happier and in good shape.”
If she never gets to play the role again, Erbe imagines that her character would continue solving cases with Goren and just continue to live her life.
What do you think? Would you like to see Law & Order: Criminal Intent continue?

PLEASE PLEASE BRING THE SHOW BACK. DONOFRIO IS EXCELLENT!
Keep criminal intent on. Donofrio is just such a great actor it would be a shame not to see him on this great show. And keep it on NBC because it got lost on USA chanel
Of all the L&O shows criminal intent is by far the best because donofrio is such a great actor. Please keep the show on. And keep it on NBC. it got lost on USA chanel
Darn right! Please keep this top of the line cop show on the air. It is a show that deserves a chance, believe me. Since the networks look at ratings, because that’s where the money is, then give this show a chance to show you what it can do…
Please bring Law and Order: Criminal Intent back. I can’t get enough of the series.
I love Law and Order CI! It’s the best. But it will not be the best without Goren and Eames. I tried looking at the season without G and E and it was’nt the same. I like Jeff Goldbloom but there’s only one Goren. Why do you take away a show that people obviously love? You know what would be even better? Bring back the DA character played by Courtney Vance. Oh please, please, pretty please!
Please bring Law and Order Criminal Intent back for another season or more. Vincent D’Onofrio and Katherine Erbe are such a great team and the stories are great. I especially liked this last season with the two of them back again and Bobby working through his demons with his shrink.
I too am a fan of Donofrio’s Goren. Happy to see the characters are still in play in case the producers change their mind, was I the only one who was extremely disappointed in the last episode? I found the writing and the format lame and since we had already seen The Social Network, all we were left wondering was how the 2 main characters would exit. Even the musical Ba-bum emphasis was absent… it was weird. Is anyone at the helm considering that the time slot has everything to do with the success of this show and others, like “24”… Read more »
Come on Mr.Wolf One more 15 episode season
Although i enjoyed season ten there is alot more you can do to send the series out with a bang. Bring the original cast back and for sure bring back Nichol Wallace.
Thats my take.
Please bring this back! How could you not invest in this kind of quality tv!
Please continue this intelligent and well-acted show. In a world of stupid no-talent reality shows, it is nice to see real drama by talented actors. D’Onofrio and Erbe are the besst! They are believable; their characters are well-developed and multi-dimensional, everything that good acting should be. Great writing, directing and acting make this show a must-see. I watch the reruns over and over again and never get tired of great drama.
When I learned that Law & Order: Criminal Intent was coming back to USA network, I was very pleased. When I learned that Vincent D’Onofrio and Katherine Erbe would also be returning, I was absolutely ecstatic! Unfortunately, I do not have cable TV service, but I was more than happy to pay to view the new episodes on Amazon. In these times of recession, that is not a decision that I would normally choose however, for this show, it was worth every penny. The cast and crew would love to be part of an eleventh season. Dick Wolf is raring… Read more »
Yes I would very much like to see Law and Order CI to continue with the same people in the show, Eames and Goren!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bob and Kathy Hadsell
I have been following L & O:C I since its inception and I truly hope it will continue. I did like this series finale much better than the episode where Ames and Goren split before. I beg the producers to keep it alive. The story lines are timely and thought provoking.
Please bring them (Goren and Eames ) back along with “Law and Order Criminal Intent . I love the show and Goren and Eames made the show.
