New York, NY – October 3, 2016 – A&E has led the cultural conversation with Emmy-winning documentary programming that shines a light on the most pressing issues facing the country today, like “Intervention” and “Born This Way.” Now, as the debate over the policing of America continues to be a part of the daily conversation across the nation, A&E will offer viewers unfettered and unfiltered live access inside the country’s busiest police forces and the communities they patrol in the new documentary series “Live PD.” The network has ordered eight, two-hour episodes. “Live PD” is produced for A&E Network by Big Fish Entertainment. The announcement was made today by Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of A&E and Lifetime. “Live PD” premieres Friday, October 28 at 9pm ET/PT.
“Every day the demands for more transparency in law enforcement continues to come from both civilians and police across the country,” said Sharenow. “‘Live PD’ will not only highlight the difficult work being done by our men and women in uniform as they go out into the streets never knowing what to expect, but also answers citizens’ calls for clarity.”
Over the course of eight weeks, dash cams along with fixed rig and handheld cameras, will capture the work of a varied mix of urban and rural police forces around the country on a typical Friday night. In-studio host, ABC’s Dan Abrams, alongside Dallas Police Department Detectives Rich Emberlin and Kevin Jackson will guide viewers through the night, giving insight to what audiences are seeing in real time, bouncing minute-by-minute between the featured police departments and offering an inside look at each live incident.
David Doss, former news executive producer at CNN, ABC and NBC, will serve as show runner for the series. Journalist Dan Abrams brings over 20 years of reporting and anchoring to the table and currently serves as the Chief Legal Analyst for ABC News. Detectives Kevin Jackson and Rich Emberlin have been partners for over two decades, having worked together in Patrol, SWAT, Criminal Intelligence, and Dignitary Protection Squad for Dallas PD.
“Live PD” will go beyond the linear experience. A live social media component will take audiences behind the scenes of the “Live PD” studio to pull back the curtain of the groundbreaking series.
As with many live events, due to the potential of capturing intense and possibly disturbing content, the program will air on a delay.
Executive producers for Big Fish Entertainment are Dan Cesareo, David Doss, George McTeague, Kara Kurcz and John Zito. Executive producers for A&E Network are Elaine Frontain Bryant, Shelly Tatro and Sean Gottlieb. A+E Networks holds worldwide distribution rights for “Live PD.”

I love the show I never miss an episode
Are you watching this weekend?
I have tried so hard to get into this show but every time something starts to happen they have to cut away for a “quick” break (5 minutes) or they show an update from last night. It’s almost like they are nervous that something bad or with legal ramifications will happen on live TV. Either be fully invested in LIVE programming and let the viewers see the entire stop unless it is really boring or just record it and call it cops2. Too many times you cut away and we never know the outcome.
Please keep live tv onthe air! Our family loves it! You awesome Dan
Where has Sgt. Sticks been for the last 2 weeks?
I want to know where Tulsa Gang Unit live PD is. They have not been on since Sticks was in your studio?
Thats what I have been wondering
I think the show let’s us know what the daily activities in our law enforcement entail.
This show has such potential to be the next Cops, but the boring commentary makes it a loser. The constantly cut away to commentary when there might be a chance of some action. The host, guests, and cohost has nothing but boringness to add. If they would just stick to the live feeds, shut up, and let things play out this show would be a winner
There’s something wrong with making crime entertainment.
I have tried to never miss a Friday night. Yes some of the early sets were boring. The action has picked up since with new departments. I like Sticks and Ms. Weatherly of Florida. Sticks is in the headquarters office to help with the commentary. I like it, where others might not. I was in Airport Security so I’may familiar with ‘security’ and police work. I think last week highlighted how stupid can be, just like tonight.
On the Live broadcast Friday, January 20, 2017, a camera crew rode out with Sgt. Casey O’Donnell in Midland, Texas. Are you aware that Casey O’Donnell is the firstborn son of Robert O’Donnell, the Paramedic that pulled baby Jessica out of an abandoned water well in Midland, Texas in October, 1987?
did not know that.very cool
I love this show, would u all consider coming to Escambia Alabama, I would absolutely love that. Thank u
Are you guys bringing back COPS? Sounds like it!!!!
