Detective Dwight Hendricks (Jason Lee) has sung his last Elvis song and solved his last case. TNT has cancelled Memphis Beat after two season on the air.
A TNT spokesperson said, “TNT has decided not to pick up a third season of Memphis Beat… The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew. TNT wishes everyone the best.” The last episode aired on August 16th.
Beat was the last of the TNT dramas to have its fate decided. The cable channel renewed Leverage, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies, and Franklin & Bash but cancelled Beat, HawthoRNe, and Men of a Certain Age. Men had the worst ratings of the three axed series while HawthoRNe and Beat were next in line.
Lee will next be seen on NBC’s Up All Night and Beat creators/spouses Liz Garcia and Josh Harto recently sold a new drama to the peacock network called The Meadows.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Memphis Beat has been cancelled? What would you have liked to see happen in season three?

I agree with all of the above comments. I am so tired of seeing all these Reality shows popping up on the television. They are so ridiculous and stupid! I, myself , would be embarrassed to show up on such ignorant tv. Whoever makes these type of decisions, should be fired! We are forced to watch reruns during March madness and NBA, hockey playoffs, baseball, etc., when there are sports channels available to watch. Why does “John Q Public” have to be punished while the sports enthusiasts get to watch their shows LIVE and never have to worry about them… Read more »
Totally agree with the other comments. Please bring the show back.
I am extremely disappointed. There was much room for development of the characters, both individually and as a whole. I am ever amazed that repeatedly junk shows are left on, and for what? Shock value….. And better shows with diverse entertainment are repeatedly axed. All I can say is shame on you……
I loved Memphis Beat!!!! Looked forward every week to watch it!!! Never fails, when something worth while comes on to watch,it gets canceled!!!!! Why???? With so much crab on T.V. ,its so disappointing that the decent stuff is taken off!!!!
We loved Memphis Beat. Hate the realities shows. Please bring it back!
I completely agree with all the other comments – this show was fantastic, and I am extremely disappointed!!!!!
I guess TNT is too busy trying to brainwash us with Meet the Browns and House of Payne (very funny my b-tt) than to air good decent shows with morals.
dee » Those are on TBS.
It’s an insult to the actors and the watching public. This was a very great show, due to the writing of real life characters. Not one dumbbell in the lot!!! Am so tired of most of the so called “funny lines” in most shows. I am forgetting TNT, and wish whole heartedly that some other cable station will pick it up. They will have my vote and my family’s as well. We really fell for the characters. Come on, TNT, GET SMART.
They are absolutely off their rocker to cancel this show. I record it on DVR. Maybe my viewing wasn’t counted; maybe a lot of people who do that didn’t get counted when they checked for ratings. My whole family watched this show…
Who ever let this show go is not in tine with the TV audience and their desires. Yes, some shows take a little time to take hold as I first thought this one would, but it grabbed me faster than I thought. I also thought that “Earl” couldnt pull it off; but he did! I have been waiting and waiting for its return and just decided to look “whats up” on the pc ….to learn its been cancelled????!!! Come on guys this show was great and I am seriously upset!
What were they thinking. Memphis Beat was the best show on TNT. I am very upset about the cancellation. The actors were great, the stories were great and the music was really great. I was looking forward to seeing another year of this great show. BRING IT BACK
I am very sad, I loved the show and was waiting for the season to start. Very disappointing.
Really? Who do you have making your decision?
It is time to get rid of the mindless reality shows and keep the well written one.
We love this show and think if another staion has any intelligence at all renew Memphis Beat.
All the characters had charisma.
About time we the viewers ask for shows that have the dynamics and finally get rid of violence, reality junk.
Greatly dissapointed in Indiana
Memphis Beat was the best show on TV. Adult characters with layered story lines. Not an air head 30 something among them. I looked forward to watching every week. I did not even DVR it. watched every stinking commercial because the sponsors deserved my support. TNT, you are losing me. Hopefully other stations are listening. I will watch Memphis Beat, and like other fans have stated…I am the one paying the cable bill in this household
Of all the show you decided to keep {Men of a Certain age) this is one of the worst show on TNT. Then you canceled Memphis Beat which is a cop show with humor. You need to rethink your decision.
