Detective Dwight Hendricks (Jason Lee) has sung his last Elvis song and solved his last case. TNT has cancelled Memphis Beat after two season on the air.
A TNT spokesperson said, “TNT has decided not to pick up a third season of Memphis Beat… The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew. TNT wishes everyone the best.” The last episode aired on August 16th.
Beat was the last of the TNT dramas to have its fate decided. The cable channel renewed Leverage, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies, and Franklin & Bash but cancelled Beat, HawthoRNe, and Men of a Certain Age. Men had the worst ratings of the three axed series while HawthoRNe and Beat were next in line.
Lee will next be seen on NBC’s Up All Night and Beat creators/spouses Liz Garcia and Josh Harto recently sold a new drama to the peacock network called The Meadows.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Memphis Beat has been cancelled? What would you have liked to see happen in season three?

Please bring back Memphis Beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the hell, were they thinking??? One of the few shows in the summer that I look forward to. I can’t stand Franklin & Bash. Once ” The Closer” ends, that will be it for me, no more TNT.
Hard to believe the shows they cancel and the ones they keep. I loved Memphis Beat and had been waiting for its return. I will also miss Closer. Certainly glad they didn’t cancel Rizzoli and Isles as that is another of my favorites.
Loved Memphis Beat–Now they are putting on a re-hash of Dallas!! Or better yet, how about another “reality” show with everyone screaming at one another or another copy of Franklin and Bash. What happened to originality. Hey USA or some other network, please pick up this gem.
What were they thinking? Oh, that’s right, they weren’t. Keeping Franklin and Bash, Falling Skies, I can guess the age of the Suits. Young, brash, unrealistic, with no sense of history, and no involvement in a cross section of the viewers’ tastes! As a previous Commentor suggested, maybe a wiser network will pick it up!
Stupid, stupid move. if other networks are smart they will pick this up!! we can only hope. dump the reality shows!!!!!
I loved “Memphis Beat”. I enjoyed the Drama, the comical parts, and especially Jason Lee. What I didn’t like , was when the second season started and Jason was no longer singing Elvis’s tunes. It just seemed to lack something after that, and I stopped watching after that. Elvis was Memphis, the Blues, and all the Southern charm. Why do the producers, directors , start something and it becomes a hit the first season, then change it the second season, and it bombs. I love Jason Lee, but the show just lacked what we thought was a big part of… Read more »
Memphis Beat was one of the best shows TNT had. I never watch Franklin and Bash and will not watch Dallas. It is disappointing to say the least. With this being the Closers last season I was hoping the time would be filed with Memphis Beat.
networks are crazy. memphis beat was awesome. id rather watch that then f/b or falling skies. hawthrone was good til they added j-los ex. then that ruined that and we never got to find out who blew away mark anthony. gonna miss memphis beat. and theyre bringing in dallas the next generation. oh goodie. just what we need.
Sorry to see that Memphis Beat has been cancelled. It was a good show. Can’t believe some of the shows that have been cancelled vrs ones that are continuing. Who makes these decisions?
Very sorry that Memphis beat was cancelled. I enjoyed this show so much.
cancel memphis beat and keep franklin and bash, are they all on drugs there or just stupid?
I agree with above comment. I loved memphis beat. I can’t believe it and kept franklin & bash. It makes no sense to me. I guess I won’t be watching TNT this season.
Sorry to hear you’ve cancelled Mephis Beat. It was a really good show that my wife and I watched every week. Franklin & Bash is a piece of trash, why didn’t you cancel that instead ? I don’t understand where ratings come from, but they don’t always get it right.
Oh NO! Please don’t cancel this show. I have been waiting for the summer shows to watch and this is one that I really look forward to see. I didn’t care too much to My Name is Earl but I love Memphis Beat.
