Detective Dwight Hendricks (Jason Lee) has sung his last Elvis song and solved his last case. TNT has cancelled Memphis Beat after two season on the air.
A TNT spokesperson said, “TNT has decided not to pick up a third season of Memphis Beat… The network thanks everyone involved in the production of Memphis Beat for their work on the series, including the great cast and crew. TNT wishes everyone the best.” The last episode aired on August 16th.
Beat was the last of the TNT dramas to have its fate decided. The cable channel renewed Leverage, Rizzoli & Isles, Falling Skies, and Franklin & Bash but cancelled Beat, HawthoRNe, and Men of a Certain Age. Men had the worst ratings of the three axed series while HawthoRNe and Beat were next in line.
Lee will next be seen on NBC’s Up All Night and Beat creators/spouses Liz Garcia and Josh Harto recently sold a new drama to the peacock network called The Meadows.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Memphis Beat has been cancelled? What would you have liked to see happen in season three?

I am sick of the shows that have the ability to entertain and make you think being kicked to the roadside. Memphis Beat had a good pallet of characters, had a decent story line each week, plus a unique entertaining quality with the music and culture of the South. It is getting to be a thin set of options for those of us who do not want to watch reality shows or the sitcoms that have deteriorated to unwatchable mush.
I agree! Why is it that anything that is intelligent and well written gets cancelled?! I WILL not now or EVER watch anything labeled “reality”…what garbage!!!
This was a really good show with moving episodes as well as a “great” cast.
We loved Memphis Beat. Why do all the good shows get cancelled and idiotic “reality shows” stay on?
That’s a shame. What TNT and advertisers need to understand, is people are sick and tired of the silly “reality” shows. Many of us are no longer willing to pay $$60.00+ each month for cable when there are only ten to twelve shows that are worth watching. Unless you’re a sports fan or have young children in the house, cable tv prices are not worth it anymore. TNT now requires viewers to log in through their cable providers & excluded Time-Warner due to a business squabble when they split up. Advertisers, fewer and fewer people are watching the shows you… Read more »
I liked Memphis Beat and would like to see it brought back. I liked the cast and most of the stories. There are so many shows that are not fit to watch (pardon the Southern expression).
IT WAS A GREAT SHOW,SORRY TO SEE IT END.
Very disappointed that this wonderful show was cancelled. Character development takes time, and the audience was growing. Music and historical references to the Memphis area closed the deal. I hope another network picks this one up, it was a real jewel to watch.
why did they cancel memphis beat it was a great show. i watched it every week and i got a few of my friends addicted to it as well. come on put it back on so we have some thing decent to watch. reality tv is so bad. we want memphis beat back and yes he has to sing. what a voice wow

It has gotten to the point that if it is a reality show or a stupid comedy you get a pass. A show that shows some originality is cancelled. The shows renewed all follow the same theme and seem written by the same writers. By now you show realize I loved Memphis Beat and when I saw the actors appearing on other shows I realized what happened. Is there a human anywhere located at TNT that can see something good and follow his/her heart and let the show grow. Please bring Memphis Beat back with all cast and writers intact.

I cannot believe you cabcelled Mephis Beat. I thought itas a great. I am so tired of all the shows I like being cancelled
Memphis Beat was one of the REALLY GOOD SHOWS on TV. Of COURSE it’s cancelled. You idiots. I would NEVER watch that Franklin & Bash stupid show.
NBC, you are IDIOTS!!!! I wouldn’t watch a reality show if you PAID me~!!!!! I have a BRAIN and I like detective shows, where you MIGHT actually have to THINK.
NBC, you’re going down and you don’t even realize it. Thank God you didn’t cancel Rizzoli & Isles!
I agree word for word
WHY WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? YOU WOULD RATHER HAVE EVERY DAY PEOPLE MAKE FOOLS OF THEMSELVES AND CALL IT REALITY THAN PAY ACTORS TO PERFORM QUALITY PERFORMANCES. WONT BE BUYING ANY OF THE PRODUCTS ADVERTISED IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN AUDIENCE TO SEE THEM.
I can’t believe you cancelled Memphis Beat!! TNT was regaining its audience with some great shows and you’ve cancelled all of them. If Rizzoli and Iles goes, so do I and a lot of my friends. Why pay for tv we don’t watch? It’s bad enough when you have to ‘make room’ for certain shows in your area. But when a network deliberately cancels GOOD shows, there’s something wrong! We’ve seen enough Law and Order and CSI reruns to follow along with the scripts! YOU HAD A REALLY UNIQUE IDEA–ONE OF A KIND–AND YOU’RE WILLING TO SACRIFICE QUALITY FOR RATINGS!… Read more »
