ABC surprised more than a few people when the network renewed Men in Trees for a second season. Great, but where did it go?
Marin Frist (Anne Heche) is a best-selling author and relationship coach who helps women find the right man, using her own life as an example. On a plane trip to attend an Alaska conference, she finds out that her finance has been cheating on her and realizes that she doesn’t know as much as she thought she did. Marin decides to stay in the remote town (where the ratio of men to women is 10 to one) so that she can truly learn how to find and keep a good man, and write a new book. The cast also features Abraham Benrubi, Emily Bergl, Seana Kofoed, Suleka Mathew, Derek Richardson, Sarah Strange, Cynthia Stevenson, Lauren Tom, James Tupper, and John Amos.
Men in Trees debuted on September 12, 2006 on ABC. Trees followed the Fall debut of Dancing with the Stars and attracted over 12.1 million viewers. The second episode lost a third of the audience and attracted just over eight million in its regular timeslot. Despite a season of ratings ups and downs, ABC renewed Men in Trees for a second year on March 21st.
Men in Trees has been off the air however since March 8th. ABC pulled the series to make room for the debut of October Road. Trees was originally scheduled to return on April 12th but ABC has reworked its schedule more than once, delaying the return each time.
ABC has now announced that Trees fans will have to wait a whole longer to see new episodes — probably five months. The remaining five episodes of season one will now be part of Trees’ second season, bringing the sophomore year episode total to 27.
Though frustrating and unusual, this isn’t unprecedented. Grey’s Anatomy and Boston Legal both had 27 episode sophomore years. There have been rumors that ABC may change their mind and decide to air the rest this season. We’ll keep you posted so stay tuned!
I really miss this program!! What were you thinking ABC??? Finally a show that is cute, clean and funny. PLEASE bring it back. I was thinking of moving there 🙂
This is my favorite show and alot of my friends favorite. I can’t wait until we see what happens in all the love affairs. Please bring them back as soon as possible. September is very long to wait. Do these big tv people care at all about their fans? It seems to me that they put them up against the most popular shows hoping that we’ll have to choose. Thanks to DVD recorders.. raspberries to you!
I understand you keep getting your piece of the american pie and you could care less what we the people who put money in your pockets think. But get wise their are other NEW and IMPROVED channels coming out everyday. Your pockets will get empty one day and go under and you have yourself to blame. Men in Trees was a great show to watch and spend time with your entire family, nothing to risky for kids to watch and that is what I look for the olden days when it was fun to spend family night watching a good… Read more »
I agree with so many who mentioned ACB’s nack for running re-runs right after a new episode one right after another. That is what off season is for. Find a time slot and stay there please. Men in Trees is a great show. Please bring it back. Just a tip, Advertise like crazy what day and time to expect it. I am tired of searching the TV Guide directory each day to look for the shows that I love to watch on ABC. You seem to do the same with other shows ie; Grey’s, Lost, & what ever happened to… Read more »
Love the show and have missed it . I hope the network REALLY puts it back on. Men In Trees was one of the few , and I mean FEW shows that was worth watching.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW YOU CAN RUN A NETWORK WHEN EVERYTIME YOU PUT ON A NEW SHOW A FEW WEEKS LATER IT’S GONE. I’M AFRAID TO EVEN START WHATCHING NEW SHOWS NOW BECAUSE BY THE TIME I START GETTING INTO IT, IT DISAPEARS. I LOVED NORTHERN EXPOSURE,AND MEN IN TREES KIND OF REMINDS ME OF THAT.REALY WANT IT BACK!!!!!!
I am still waiting and hoping that the show will be back!!!!
bring back men in trees. In Spain we watch it too. It’s brilliant!!!!
It was soooo nice to not have to see a reality show for a change……please bring back “Men In Trees”………
PLEASE NOTIFY THE PUBLIC ON THE RETURN OF MEN IN TREES, ONE OF THE FEW SHOWS WITHOUT HAVING TO COVER YOUR EYES OR EARS, SAME AS THE SERIES “NORTHERN EXPOSURE”, THE SHOW LEAVES SO MUCH TO YOUR OWN IMAGINATION, INSTEAD OF LAYING EVERYTHING OUT ON A SILVER PLATER FOR THE WHOLE WORLD TO SEE….PLEASE BRING IT BACK…NOW!!!!! A DIEHARD FAN FROM THE FIRST SHOW, WITH ONE EXCEPTION BRING IT BACK ON AT 9:00 P.M. ON THURSDAY.. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. NOW BRING IT BACK…I WANT IT NOW!!!
abc shame on you for your customer satisfaction ploy of playing hide and seek with your viewing public regarding men in trees.men in trees is a fantastic show, intelligent, wonderfully written, humorous insightful[which apparently as a network you seem to lack]and thought provoking.simply put bring back men in trees and stop playing games.

I really miss the show, also. It was a show I made time for weekly and just now have looked up the show name on the internet to find out what could have happened to it.
Bring it back – there are plenty of lesser shows that are on the air.
I am not sure what is in the minds of the people at ABC that decided to flip flop a different show every other week in the same time slot. It made me switch to a different network or quit watching period.I loved Men in Trees after Grey and it was a perfect fit. I wish they would have just gave the season a little closure rather than abruptly taking if off the air. I’m going to need to catch up again before the season starts next year unless these brilliant minds decide to change their minds yets again and… Read more »
I hate the way the split the season of so many shows this last year. That’s what I thought happened to Men in Trees until it never came back. It is such a great show. Before deciding that something doesn’t have enough viewers, how about giving it a chance? If they cut the season, then wait months of course it’s going to lose viewers. Please bring it back!
