ABC surprised more than a few people when the network renewed Men in Trees for a second season. Great, but where did it go?
Marin Frist (Anne Heche) is a best-selling author and relationship coach who helps women find the right man, using her own life as an example. On a plane trip to attend an Alaska conference, she finds out that her finance has been cheating on her and realizes that she doesn’t know as much as she thought she did. Marin decides to stay in the remote town (where the ratio of men to women is 10 to one) so that she can truly learn how to find and keep a good man, and write a new book. The cast also features Abraham Benrubi, Emily Bergl, Seana Kofoed, Suleka Mathew, Derek Richardson, Sarah Strange, Cynthia Stevenson, Lauren Tom, James Tupper, and John Amos.
Men in Trees debuted on September 12, 2006 on ABC. Trees followed the Fall debut of Dancing with the Stars and attracted over 12.1 million viewers. The second episode lost a third of the audience and attracted just over eight million in its regular timeslot. Despite a season of ratings ups and downs, ABC renewed Men in Trees for a second year on March 21st.
Men in Trees has been off the air however since March 8th. ABC pulled the series to make room for the debut of October Road. Trees was originally scheduled to return on April 12th but ABC has reworked its schedule more than once, delaying the return each time.
ABC has now announced that Trees fans will have to wait a whole longer to see new episodes — probably five months. The remaining five episodes of season one will now be part of Trees’ second season, bringing the sophomore year episode total to 27.
Though frustrating and unusual, this isn’t unprecedented. Grey’s Anatomy and Boston Legal both had 27 episode sophomore years. There have been rumors that ABC may change their mind and decide to air the rest this season. We’ll keep you posted so stay tuned!

I am another viewer who is so weary of getting stuck with a series that is only on the air because of the clout with network executives…nothing to do with what we viewers like to watch. I wish we could just relax and enjoy a new series like Men In Trees and not be kept wondering when and if it will be back on. Going back a few years, that idiotic Fear Factor was kept on no matter what, but Third Watch was pre-empted,constantly taken off the air for new series to be aired until it was finally cancelled. Please do not take Men In Trees off the air! The show is just so entriguing. I love Anne Heche && the cast of the show. They’re spunky and add a new taste to television shows. I would hate to see ..or in a case, not see, the show on air. ABC, don’t give this show up!
I am so tired of watching TV shows every night where someone gets murdered. MIT’s is light and funny and I am thankful for the good feelings I have after watching it.
I agree – NO MORE REALITY. I don’t watch much ABC, and even less now that Men in Trees is gone. I LOVED that show, got my sister hooked too. Please bring it back, it would be too cruel to dump us Tree lovers!!!
Men in Tree’s and Dancing with the Stars brought me back to ABC, am even watching the reruns of “tree’s”, loved Anne since her “soap”days, played delightful twins. thanks. S. Walters, Daytona,Fl.
I love Men In Trees !!! I made it a point to tell all my friends to watch the show then we’d call each other to talk about the show. When it stopped showing I was so lost. I hope the show is going to start up again, I have missed it so much.

I was so happy to see the show coming back. I love this show as I did Northern Exposure years ago and was sorry to see that one canceled. Finally a quality show-I’m tired of all the ‘reality’ shows.

Ditto to all of the above. Men in trees is a great show…i hate to say it because im a guy but i miss it. I watched the whole season over 3 days and can’t get enough. I love the show so much i’ll wait until september to watch it(if i HAVE to), but please dont drop the show.
I was so disapointed when they took Men In Tree’s off the air. There’s not many show’s I so looked forward to watching. I loved everything about it, the cast, the acting, the setting and mostly the story!!!
i have been waiting anxiously for the return of men in trees and it seems like it just fell off the earth….were did it go? i never cared so much about a television show that i had to search for infomation as too were the hell did it go? come on, october road sucks compared to men in trees….this show has romance, comedey, excitement, great characters, and just such an interesting story that keep’s me and my mom talking on the phone about this refreshing t.v. show…PLEASE bring it back, t.v is so boring with out men in trees…..
