At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

Really a shame. Just when it’s really starting to get good……..I am totally disappointed!
NBC officially sucks! Dancing with the stars should have never made it passed season one, let alone produce a spin off show. Skating with the stars? You are out of your minds. Take the one descent show you had (Mercy) and treat it like a step child by never advertising for it and of course its doomed to not get any ratings. I think more of my friends and colleagues found out about Mercy through me than any marketing NBC attempted. I am banning NBC from my TV channels. I refuse to support a network so wrapped up in crap… Read more »
I found this to be a great show. Yes at first it started out rocky but once you really get into it-it seriously rocks. Please don’t cancel it!!!!
I only started watching Mercy on hulu and watched every single episode.
I’m so mad it was cancelled, wasn’t too bad. I kinda enjoyed most episodes.
This is sooooo outrageous!!!!! I am MORE than PISSED!!!!!!
I recently found Mercy on Netflix and instantly fell in love with it!!! So sad this was cancelled…please bring it back.
What? No Mercy? I am furious….. They could have atleast given us an appropriate ending. I was a faithful ER watcher and when Mercy came out I fell in love with the show. Did I say I am furious….
I completely fell in love with Mercy..How can it just be cancled?? And leave the end like that??..And NBC keeps dancing with the stars..Cause everyone loves to watch people dance appearently.
How could you cancel this show. It is my second fav show. I think it needed better marketing behind it!
I had never heard about the show but recently found it on netflix and i love it!!! im dissapointed to know that i will get to the end, knowing there is no second season! Its by far one of the best shows ive ever watched. I think NBC should have advertised the show a little better and the ratings would have been better cause it by far one of the best medical shows ive seen. i like it more than scrubs, trama, and nurse jackie.
I agree! I didn’t know about it but found it on Netflix… LOVED IT
Very Disappointing.
This happen all the time a few big shots want money or like ohter shows and want to save them for the resaon. Gillans’s Island got ended because they liked gunsmoke The frist Star Trek and Zorro (ended with no ending) were cut beause people were not getting “enough” money.
At least make a two hour or so show to wrap things up a little please.
mercy was me and my wife’s favorite show, very pissed it got cancelled!!!!!!!
Mercy and Trauma were the two shows I waited anxiously every week to watch. What, not enough police drama on it?!!!! NBC, I am definitely not looking forward to “Skating With The Stars”, give me a break! Dancing With The Stars last season became more of a sexual show than a dance show. I could not even let my grandson watch it. What the hell is going on at NBC?
im pissed it got canceled watched it on hulu every episode they didn’t finish the story thats fucked
