At the start of the season, we wondered which new NBC medical drama had the best chance at survival — Mercy or Trauma. It was hard to decide but now, they’ve both been cancelled anyway.
Mercy follows the lives of three very different nurses at Mercy Hospital in Jersey City. The cast includes Taylor Schilling, Jaime Lee Kirchner, Michelle Trachtenberg, James Tupper, Diego Klattenhoff, Guillermo Diaz, James LeGros, James Van Der Beek, and Delroy Lindo.
The medical drama got off to a pretty poor start last September, attracting a 2.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 8.25 million total viewers. Unfortunately, viewership fell even lower from there.
Despite the ratings, NBC ordered a full season of episodes, likely because the network needed the original programming. Though NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President Angela Bromstad said she liked the show creatively, she noted that the show’s ratings had to improve for it to survive.
The ratings didn’t improve. The most recent episode attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.01 million viewers.
To no surprise, the Mercy TV show’s now been cancelled. The 22nd and final episode aired last Wednesday, May 12th. Unfortunately, it wasn’t intended to be a series finale and didn’t wrap up the show.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Mercy won’t be back for season two? What would you have liked to have seen happen?

Are you kidding cancelling the show with all those cliff hangers??? Not good. I loved that show. But, by all means, keep reality TV going. They are really building stellar minds in the community…
I was a loyal fan of Mercy and was so dissapointed it was canceled! I wanted to see what was going to happen to the nurse acussed of killing a patient. I wish it would be brought back!!
Completely disappointed there will be no more episodes forthcoming 🙁
This show had tremendous potential!
I couldn’t help but anticipate the next season…….the finale left me craving to ask the proverbial question,”who died or will die!” Followed by the resounding “Nooooo!”
I’m so bummed that Mercy was canceled! It was a really terrific show. The fans have been officially let down. Lets bring Mercy back!
I loved that show! The St Pat’s show was one of the funniest I have ever seen. What can we do to bring it back?

I LOVED Mercy. Why cancel the good shows! Dammit I want to know what happens next.
Love the show me and my husband watched it every week. He usually dont like those kind of shows but this was a real good one. How do you come up with your numbers of how many people watch because I think there is more than you think..Also liked the show friday night lights what the heck
sad.. thought it was a good show. really held my interest.
I absolutely LOVED Mercy and Trauma and DVR’d them religiously. The problem was, they would play 2 shows, take a few weeks off, play another. Too hard to keep up with when it was actually on. I was really hoping to see if coming on mid season this year and am very disappointed that the “realty” crap is taking over.
Get rid of the Apprentice-like TV and put something on that we can all relate to.
I LOVED MERCY and HATING NBC!
