Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

I am really disappointed because I think that it was a GREAT !!!! Show. I just think that the producers should keep going with the series and I bet a lot more viewers will tune in.
Cannot believe they would cancel such a good show and keep so many third rate progams. It is not difficult to see why they are the least watched net work.
I agree with you 100% !!
I am extremely disappointed. It is one of the few shows I enjoyed. I watch it every week.
omg i l love the show i’m sooo sad.
This was a well thought out show .With plenty of intigue and lots of plot twists .Its clear Disney didn’t want to pay for it .If they would have kept it consistently in the same time slot it wouldve helped .Go Disney for bringing intelligent shows like GCB ( might have helped if your broadway star sang more ) .Its cheaper to run crap or reality .To give people an idea who don’t know towards the end the entire friends cast made a million each per episode .Where reality shows cost a quarter of that .Ther next best show in… Read more »
I agree. Walt Disney would not like the direction ABC has chosen to go with it’s crappy, cheap shows. Missing is a good show so I’m not surprised that it was cancelled. It’s exactly what all three big networks do to a good show. those crappy, cheap reality shows won’t be so cheap for you when you lose all your viewers to all the possibilities on the variety available on cable networks. I’d rather watch old movies that I’ve seen a bizillion times on my VHS or DVD players than the crap that ABC, CBS and NBC are trying to… Read more »
The cancellation is very disappointing, indeed. It was a great show that I followed faithfully. It’s so typical of TV networks to cancel great shows. There’ve been much worse shows that they gave a second season to. BRING IT BACK!!!
I totally agree!! I looked forward to watching the show every week…Sad to see it cancelled!!
Why would you cancel such a great series? The acting and filming was wonderful. It was like watching a really good movie and pausing it from week to week. I’m truly disappointed. Ashley Judd is a superb actress. This is a huges mistake to cancel. A lot of my friends had just started watching and had to go back and watch beginning episodes. This is the series which I kept the final episode recorded with anticipation of the next season. So very disappointed. Please reconsider.
I am so sorry Missing was canceled. It was a great “suspend belief”, purely action entertainment with heart show. The acting, plot and locales were wonderful. I am so tired of fun entertainment being cancelled and crap reality shows being picked up.
Totally agree. And ending the season/series with the protaganist being abducted is just plain WRONG.. Little by little the ‘BIG’ networks are losing and they don’t seem to ‘get it’!
yes – another good show gone – I’m beginning to think they really don’t want us watching tv anymore. Television must be for all those teenagers who are never home to watch anything. However, for those of us who are too old to hang out at the Mall or MacDonald’s….can we please have a couple of shows on tv to watch?
Cancelling Missing! How sick is that?
VERY SORRY this was xx’d. I use to be in charge of programming for a CBS affiliate and I would have picked this show to go for years. Great plots, suspense and acting. But then what do I know. I picked “60 Minutes” as a great show when it first came on and my bosses thought it a real loser. Goes to show ya.
Trouble was what it was programmed against. Should have been moved to a different time slot. Perhaps another network will pick up and do just that. I can hope.
OMG!!! really!! finally an amazing show and you cancel it!!! what in the freakn crap!!! I HATE ABC!!! I am not watching crap on this channel anymore! AMEN TERRY!!!!
My mom and I watched Missing every Thursday at 8 P.M. We fell in love with the show and NEVER missed an episode. i’m dissappointed and frankly mad that they cancelled the show. i think that it should come back one for season 2 and i think that was a horrible ending for a final episode.
That really bites. I thought this was a really good show. I made sure it was scheduled on my DVR just in case I wasn’t around to actually catch the show. I have to agree with the other Terry who stated it will probably be replaced with another DUMB ASS reality show. I’m so sick of those types of shows and it seems like every time you turn on the TV they’ve come up with another one. “Jersey Shore” REALLY??? Who gives a **** that a bunch of idiots from New Jersey get drunk every weekend. What do intelligent people… Read more »
Sorry to see the show cancelled. I thought it was a good show and looked forward to watching it. Unfortunately it will probably be replaced with another dumb ass reality show or a show like So You Think You Have an Upset Stomach. It sad to see good shows cancelled and replaced with garbage. Wake up America!!
So sad! I love that show. It was awesome to see a female starring in an action series. She was powerful, but yet graceful. I watched because she was a great role model. What woman wouldnt do for her children? She was an inspiration. So disappointed!
