Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

I can’t believe they cancelled this show ! I thought ABC finally had a great lineup of shows. Sick of all the reality tv. Hopefully someone will pick it up. Then I will be watching their channel. So disappointed in ABC.
It was one of most tv shows. Maybe they decides to cancelled it because of big brother or. A similar crap!
Best show ever!!! Bring it back please
Hopefully another network will pick it back up..was well done , had to be competition of time slot or day. Example is Saturday night sucks on network tv everything is a repeat..Sunday is eat up with sports, not everyone is a animated jock strap.! Put sports on all the mucho grande sports channels . We can only watch so many Hallmark Channel reruns,
BEST show on television! Can’t believe its cancelled unless its because the actors deserve enough money for it to be bigger than television, this show is fabulous! Best thing I’ve seen on the TV in a very long time. Ashley Judd is magnificent! If you have to take it off the air, obviously to alot of peoples dismay, at least put the second season out on dvd, since you already have it shot, and let us see what happened to her when she disappeared! You guys really suck for dropping this! Can’t believe stupid shows like “Two And A Half… Read more »
Ditto on the “Two and a Half Men” comment!!! We can’t seem to get our minds back on good, intelligent writing with strong, loving relationships with positive moral tones like in “Missing” but instead we settle for bubblehead, immorality which glorifies numerous sexual relationships of course not writing in all the consequences which normally come with this (syphillis, gonorrhea, AIDS!!!)
I too loved the show. It had meat to it’s story–line. More like an ongoing movie. It required paying attention to the storyline. So sad we have such a vacuous population.
What?? Cancelled? This show was one of my favorites! Loved it! What a shame … Too bad the only shows with high ratings are “reality” tv.
I can’t believe they cancelled Missing! I live this show and would have watched it for several more seasons!!! The show had low ratings because it was trying to compete with reality tv. I can’t understand why some people rather watch all of the “drama” that goes on in reality tv shows! I hope ABC finds a way to bring this awesome show back b/c I will truly miss it! It was well scripted & the acting was phenomenal!!!!! Please BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!
Im soo.. Sad.. It’s one of the best tv shows ever.
Ohhhh, bummer! I loved this show and have been looking forward to seeing the whole series. It was well acted and intelligent. I hate to sound like a snob, but I’m horrified that the ratings kept dipping lower and lower for this show, while “reality” shows have done so well. Is society really that simple minded? ewwww!
HBO seems to be the best source for quality television these days!
So sorry to just learn “they” cancelled this great show. We looked forward to watching the beautiful locations around Europe and the surprising plots. What a shame As it was a very sophisticated series.
Soooooo disappointing! This was our favorite show by far. The acting was phenomenal, especially by Ashley Judd. It was the quality of a great movie that we could watch each week. I’m sure if they would put more trailers out there and cancel some of the stupid shows the ratings would grow. Please bring it back!!!!
I cannot believe they are canceling a GREAT show!! That was the best tv series I had watched in a long time. There are so many stupid reality shows that actually need to be cancelled immediately!!!
This show had action, it was intense, you just didnt know what was going to happen next. I was hoping to see the ending, but not this soon. I’m so disappointed….. with abc!!!!!!
I miss you already, Ashley Judd….. You did an awesome job!!!!
Can’t believe they cancelled “Missing”. It was one of the few bright spots of the season. Good storyline and characters. Made me want to come back for more. The networks didn’t really seem to promote this show as much as they should while shows like Housewives of New Jersey, New York etc. get airplay. The networks are “Missing” the point that America wants quality shows like “Missing” and not shows such as “2 Broke Girls” which has succeeded because of its time slot. Change “Missing” to a better time slot and watch its popularity grow!
The show was excellent but Ashley’s pro-abortion internet commercial made the show go missing from our weekly schedules. This is true for myself and most of my friends for all the liberal actors or entertainers Dixie Chicks, Alex Baldwin, etc. I had rather watch nothing than some liberal that is militant in their speech.
