Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

I felt that ‘Missing” was a fast-paced, fascinating plot with so many twists and turns that it was like a roller coaster! The acting was believable and there were threads of true heartfelt relationships in the midst of the action and drama. In a world where busy people have options for viewing it’s regrettable that the viewer is rated by only the initial airing. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the episodes On Demand. Very sorry it was cancelled so abruptly wiithout any wrap up or conclusion.
Extremely disappointed. This was a great show. Like the fugitive or alias. I loved it and I don’t understand how ABC could cancel it.
Extremely disappointed. Missing was a hit! Everyone is sick of reality shows all evening long. Ashley Judd and the entire cast played remarkable roles. This show was jam packed with action, adventure and love. What a total shame that it will not be back on. PLEASE RECONSIDER ABC!
I LOVED this show. It was like a suspense movie made into a tv show. So many twists and turns, I couldn’t get enough. I’m bummed it is going off the air. I wanted to see Rebecca be reunited with her family since she was the next to apparently go missing. Awesome show.
This is a shame that this show was canceled because it was a great show and frankly, NBC, has so few. This may be the reason people didnt watch it because it is seldom NBC ever puts on something that has substance to it.
Left as a really big cliffhanger. So much action how can anybody not like it?Was so looking forward to finding out who took Rebecca. The suspense in every episode was fantastic!Stupid stupid move!!!
Very good show, too many realty shows. This show actually had a story line.Thought went into it.Made you think…that probably was the reason it was cut?Too bad, really enjoyed it!
We watched on Hulu and loved it. We’ll miss Becca…and was she getting back together with hubby, or the foreign guy? Sigh.
I just heard this show was cancelled and I was shocked. It was a great show. Fantastic settings, gut-wrenching episodes. Other than Castle, this was the only show that brought me to ABC during prime time.
Once again the no brainers rule.
Again- dumbest effing decision that was made. Shows that require half a brain cell to watch are left on and things that are well written and require one to think are yanked- why are they catering to the brainless? That’s what NBC is for.
That is bull that you have got rid of this show. From what I found out ppl have to have a box on their tv so you guys can get a reading. Not everyone has a box thank you n also does your so called reading read dvr counts. As you know ppl have to work not everyone can have a 9-5 job so I think you need to finish the damn story at least let her get her son back n end it or let another tv channel have it so they can finish it. Not everyone is n… Read more »
I’m so disappointed! I just watched the ten episodes yesterday from my DVR and loved it
I thought it was a great plot and very well written with allot of action and suspense. It kept my wife and i on our feet every week and wanting more. We r disappointed in that the last episode Becca disappeared and we will never find out what happened to her. We had the impression that a full season would b spent figuring out the mystery so to speak and in the last episode something else would happen and that would kick off the nxt season. We looked forward to finally seeing some new shows that were not the reality shows.… Read more »
Very disappointed!!! I thought the show was awesome! Something quite different. Damn
