Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

This is unbelievable, abc has failed us.missing was great. Great acting and plot. So disappointing.
Kudos to Ashley Judd and cast! Well done! Don’t know how ratings are determined, but the cancellation of this show left many disappointed. Perhaps one of the other networks will be smart enough to continue the series. Let’s hope!
This show was awesome! Always had me on the edge of my seat….this is a huge disappointment.
This show was one of the best I have ever seen, unfortunately it is made for smart people and that means that the ratings won´t be as high as they are for other shows, however ABC show nothing more than foolishness by cancelling this show.
ABC didn’t give Missing a chance, as they do not do with many of their good shows . I can’t hardly wait till next season, only to find that the show is canceled. I think I’ll stick with NBC and CBS. Missing was one of the most exciting shows on tv.
SOOO disappointed! This was a great show. I can’t believe they ended it the way they did and then canceled it.
Missing didn’t have a chance being a new show on Thursday night against American Idol. ABC demographics were 18-39 thats the same age group for Idol. This was a good show they should have moved time slot or made it a summer show!
My family is astonished that the best show on abc was cancelled. It has great acting, wonderful locations around the world, and a story that kept us on the edge of our seats. Since the under 50 demographic gave it such low ratings, it’s obvious that that age group has no clue whatsoever of what quality television is, and why should they? Their brains have been turned to mush by low life reality and stupid humor shows. It takes no talent or brains to write or perform in those shows, and they are boring beyond belief. Good going abc. ohh nooo!!! 4k u ABC!!! wtf is wrong with you people,i’d just stick to watchn syfy shows coz dey dnt cancel great shows neither do they shove kim kards butt down our throats *sighs*
WHY! Missing was the best show on ABC! I won’t be watching ABC anymore !
I am shocked as well that Missing has been canceled. This is one of the only shows that was worth watching on the Network!!! I think a lot of people are tired of the reality shows that seem to never end. This show had a real plot and I am disappointed that I will not be able to see what happened to Rebecca. I also love Ashley Judd and thought she was a great leading lad! What a shame!
Enough with the reality tv – Bring back Missing! ABC made a bad choice as usual…guess I’ll go back to reading books since there is nothing good on tv anymore….so sick of those reality shows…please stop!!
Anyone that would have watched the first episode of this show would have become absolutely hooked. It had great action, storyline and location shots. My whole family looked forward to it every week. Hard to find good shows any more. What a disappointment.
Great show…..finally a good show and they cancel it. Big mistake people!!
I don’t know what’s going on with ABC but, it seems to me they have really been off the past couple of years. Cancelling an interesting show like Missing was the topping on my ice cream. Like my daughter if it weren’t for the fact that General Hospital were still on I wouldn’t watch ABC AT ALL. They cancelled life time soap operas, Extreme Home Make Over and show stupid shows in their places. A pity to watch a giant like ABC fall so short.
