Superman has a new mission. Deadline reports Henry Cavill has joined the upcoming movie Mission: Impossible 6.
The sequel is part of the film franchise based on the original Mission: Impossible TV series, which ran on CBS between 1966 and and 1973. The show was briefly revived in 1988 on ABC before it was adapted as a movie franchise starring Tom Cruise beginning in 1996.
It’s unclear what Cavill’s role will be in Mission: Impossible 6, but director Christopher McQuarrie told the Superman star on Instagram that the role will require “extreme heights, high speeds, motor vehicles of all varieties (especially aircraft), practical stunts, firearms, and sporadic exposition.” Cavill responded by saying “I like a good challenge.”
Mission: Impossible 6 is slated for theatrical release on July 27th, 2018.
