The Monkees are coming back to the small screen. Entertainment Weekly reports the band will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a televised concert on AXS TV.
Formed in 1965, the band originally consisted of Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, and Davy Jones, who passed away in 2012. The quartet starred in The Monkees TV show between 1966 and 1968.
Dolenz, Nesmith, and Tork will perform as The Monkees for Mark Cuban’s recently announced TV concert series, AXS TV Concerts Hosted by Mark Cuban. The five-week series will also include television concerts from Bret Michaels, Village People, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Bad Company.
The Monkees concert will premiere on August 11th at 9 p.m. ET on AXS TV.
What do you think? Are you a fan of The Monkees? Will you watch their AXS TV concert?
It’ll be hard to reminisce without Davy, but I’ll likely watch anyway. For the younger readers, the Monkees were likely third in popularity during their time, behind only the Beatles and Elvis.
