CBS has yet to renew the Friday night vampire series but that’s not stopping Moonlight executive producer Joel Silver and the show’s writers. They’re already plotting Moonlight’s second season.
While promoting the upcoming Speed Racer film, Silver talked about Moonlight’s prospects for a second year on CBS. He said, “We’re hopeful… I mean, the next episode goes on next Friday night [April 25th], which is a really great episode. It starts out, Mick [Alex O’Loughlin] is still human, but then he has to go back to being a vampire. And I have three more really strong episodes. And I hope that it does come back, because we have a whole plan for next year that’s fantastic.”
The network has been on the fence about renewing Moonlight though it seems like the chances are good. Silver says that he’s scheduled to meet with CBS programming executives to talk about the show’s future. “Well, we’re going to go in, as a matter of fact, next week for a pitch meeting to tell them what we’re going to do next year.”
Based on what the programmers hear and the performance of the new episodes, they’ll decide whether Mick St. John will return to walk the streets of Los Angeles next fall. CBS announces its 2008-09 schedule in mid-May. Stay tuned! 
This is one show that it makes no sense to cancel, despite little to no advertising this show is still gathering followers despite filming only one season nearly three years ago. I don’t get much time to sit down and watch tv, and for the most part I don’t find this too much of a hardship given the amount of second rate drivel that seems to be on recently. I can’t say that I dislike Twilight because that would be a bold face lie but I LOVE Moonlight and would be very upset if a season 2 was not aired!!!!! Please CBS… Listen to the fans and I’m pretty sure you won’t regret it!
Love the programme. Good story lines, and an exceptional cast. Play the parts very well. Surely the number of veiwers watching the programme reflec how good the programme is. If not then I can only suggest the time and advertising isn’t thiught out well.Puts twightlight to shame ! !
I LOVE THIS SHOW! i really really hope that it comes back. i will be very upset if i dont know what gets to happen next. mick cant just die down like this. he has to keep going. ill be looking for it on tv. they skipped a year but i love it when shows come back. especially if it is one of my favorites that they canceled

they absoulutley need to continue it i am so over twilight now and i LOVE moonlight so you can either bring it back on cbs or make season two on the cw!
I agree with all the fans…..Nothing could make me sit down,every night at the same time in front of the TV..EVER ,But this beautiful story,….Yes,there are other vampire stories on air,But they do not have that “special tuch”…….Moonlight is absolutely different…I agree,give it a chance,….So much left in it,…..Or find an other alternative to continue the story for us!!!I still prefer SEASON TWO,….!!!!…or make it into a movie,…take your pick at CBS…After all you are the professionals,… Do you think they will do a poll on this????..Well,to be stylish…they “turned us”!!!Now they should take care of us!!!…. I completely agree with you! I just can’t wait! My dad thinks I’m crazy that I screamed of this possibility. I love Moonlight. That doesn’t even cover it! I have seen other Vampire shows, but Moonlight really has that subconcious grab on you. Even someone who doesn’t like vampire shows, once they see it, something tells them it is good and they are hooked. (This happened to me and another friend.) I totally fell in love with the Moonlight series and i can’t believe they didn’t continue it something that good to not to be continued when the whole time the story stays great there is alittle bit of everything in it blood , lust ,love and action what the hell made them not want to continue this awesome story now is the perfect time to get back on the ball with this especially now when everyone is vampire crazy what with (The Vampire Diaries ,True Blood and ofcourse the whole Twilight thing going on ???
