Here in the states, the Motive TV show can hardly be called a ratings success. However, it’s doing well enough in Canada for CTV to renew it for a third season. Production resumes this fall.
Motive revolves around a strong-willed Vancouver detective (Kristin Lehman) who’s also a single mom. At the start of each episode, viewers are shown the killer and victims. As the criminal investigation progresses, details of what led to the crime are revealved via flashbacks. The rest of the cast includes Louis Ferreira, Lauren Holly, Roger Cross, Brendan Penny, and Cameron Bright.
Though last summer’s ratings weren’t very good, ABC picked up the 13 episodes of season two and they started airing last week. Season two’s ratings have been even worse and it’s currently the network’s lowest-rated summer show.
ABC only licenses the show so it’s cheaper for them than producing their own summer dramas. Could the ratings be poor enough this year so that it wouldn’t make sense for them to air the show, even at a low cost? We shall see.

Come on!! I’m gonna stop watching TV soon. Every show I like you cancel. I hate HATE reality TV. Forever= canceled, Human Target=canceled, Heroes=canceled, Sarah Connor Chronicles=canceled, etc. But lets keep the Kardishaions on because thats quality TV!
Motive is great, no overacting, low key, great stories, the stars are perfect, great acors. I can’t believe ABC would let one this go, it needs another chance.

Come on ABC I heard CTV has motive up to season 4 , give us those seasons ….and more depending on the ctv season 4 ends on a cliff hanger , give us all the rest of the seasons in the US

My husband and I really enjoyed watching “Motive” and hope ABC will renew the contract. It is very well-written and the acting is great! PLEASE continue this series!!!!!!!! It gives us something to look forward to!!!
Air it- It’s good and I was looking forward to watching. It’s a different spin on the classis crime series … which I love in general

Well written and has smart dialogue with a bit of an edge. Hope it is picked up again for season 3.
