The alphabet network has decided they don’t need quite as many episodes of No Ordinary Family. This is just another indication that the show will be cancelled in May. The freshman series may revolve around a family with special powers but the ratings have been anything but super.
Starring Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz, No Ordinary Family debuted on September 28th to a 3.2 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 10.69 million viewers. That was a good start but the numbers dropped by 16% by episode two and have essentially kept falling ever since. The latest installment hit a new low with a 1.4 rating in the demo and 4.77 million viewers, making it the lowest-rated scripted show on the network.
Back in late October, despite the falling numbers, ABC ordered nine additional episodes, bringing No Ordinary Family’s season total to 22 installments. ABC execs have now decided to cut the order down to 20 episodes.
According to The Futon Critic, this week’s episode will be an original, number 17. The next two weeks will be filled by repeats and then the final three episodes of the season (and likely the series) will air after that. The finale will air on April 5th.
What do you think? Are you disappointed by the news? Is No Ordinary Family worth saving?

This show was the only reason we had to ever tune in to ABC, everything else is so stinking boring. At least this show had great values and I’m not embarrassed to watch it in front of the kids, from now on I’ll just have to stick with FOX and NBC. It was good while it lasted, and the good news is that I now have my Tuesday nights available to do stuff outside.
My husband and I loved this show, this was one of the few shows that we actually sat down together to watch every single week!!! Please bring it back. I have been waiting for the commercials for it for the fall season and did a search today to see this! Horrible Horrible!!!
my 17 teen year old son got me interested in this show, we looked forward to watching it and told all of our friend about it. It was family friendly in as sea of horrible Ha Ha sit coms…. please bring it back we loved it!
Our family really loves this show! It is one that we can actually all watch together with kids ranging from 7 to 15. It also has some good family values compared to alot of other shows. ABC should not cancel the series but market the show to this age group and families.
If they would just take into conciteration the amount of people who have to DVR it, the would know that this show had the highest ratings of last years seasons for all channels. But go ahead, cancle it. Smart move.
The show was just getting greater and greater. please don’t stop it ):
I am amazed at what TV has come to: A great program , with humor, surprise, values, family setting, excitement and wonder. Yea right who wants to see that? lets turn on the tenth version of Real Housewifes, to see tatoo removals botox injections and whoe is me, my husbund only has 20 million and we might not make it on that. give me a break! TV executives must be the next dumbist people on the planet. I’m glad I ordered the frist season, at least I can watch reruns that I want to see instead of the $^%# that… Read more »
This is a great family show and the reason why the rating could be down is beccause the family is watching it together. Thats the Promblem with the Network they take great shows off and put bulls***t on and the wonder why the world is going to hell in a hand basket. They put shows on that the family would rather play Playstation than watch TV
This show was great! I agree the ratings must be off. I have to dvr it because I work but I’d.run Home to see it! Don’t cancel it!
I am very disappointed that they did not continue with this show. It was fantastic! Good characters and story line. Not to mention the family values. It’s a shame.
Loved the show….keep it going
My entire family looked forward to watching No Ordinary Family. It is not because the show is unworthy… maybe you should put it on another night. I use my DVR so we never miss an episode. It is not often that my entire family can relate and enjoy a decent show. I hope you give it another try.
My family also all sat down to watch it. its like they cancelled hellcats on a other network because the ratings where low they should get the peoples opinion before they cut any TV programs. They are all a bunch of s**t heads. They need to give us the full story not just we are cutting it and that’s all .
THEY SHOOD SHOW MORE EPISODES OR I WILL just stop whaching cbs forever
this ia a great show,it needs to continue with more seasons
This show was in a word… Awsome. I think what went wrong with your ratings, was that it wasn’t because a lot people didn’t like your show; in fact I think a lot of people didn’t even know it’s existance. The only reason why I even heard of that show, was because I’m a big fan of “Wipeout,” and that’s the only show I watch ABC. And the only comercial advertisement for “No Ordinary Family” were on the ABC channel network. Those were the only two shows I watched on ABC, that and “Amazing Race.” I think if you did… Read more »
