Tig Bavaro is signing off. Amazon has cancelled its One Mississippi TV show after two seasons. The second and final season of the series from Tig Notaro and Diablo Cody premiered on Amazon on September 8, 2017.
An Amazon Prime Video TV series, One Mississippi stars Tig Notaro, Noah Harpster, John Rothman, Stephanie Allynne, Rya Kihlstedt, Carly Jibson, Beth Grant, Carol Mansell, Casey Wilson, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Adora Dei. A semi-autobiographical “traumedy” based on Notaro’s life, One Mississippi ponders what happens when you must go home again — whether or not your truly can.
Today, Amazon also cancelled Kevin Bacon’s I Love Dick, as well as Jean-Claude Van Johnson. On the upside, earlier today, they renewed The Tick for season two.
Deadline reports:
Amazon is doing more clearing the decks with the cancellation of three comedy series: Tig Notaro’s One Mississippi, Jill Soloway’s I Love Dick and Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Jean-Claude Van Johnson.

“This is part of a move towards bigger, wider-audience series,” an Amazon insider told Deadline.
Notaro’s semi-autobiographical One Mississippi has garnered strong reviews (100% on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 2), and the series also made headlines for its depiction of sexual misconduct that later was linked to the Louis C.K. scandal. The disgraced comedian was an executive producer on the series (in name only).

Amazon, which is on the hunt for big, broad drama hits, has dramatically pared down its comedy series slate, once populated heavily of quirky, underrated half-hour shows. Besides Globe-winning Transparent, Mozart in the Jungle and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and just-renewed freshman hit The Tick, all other existing comedy series have been canceled, and the streaming platform also recently opted not to pick up any of the three comedy pilots from its most recent fall pilot season.
What do you think? Have you watched the two seasons of the One Mississippi TV series? Did this Amazon TV show deserve to be cancelled or renewed for a third season? Let us know, below.
We need season 3! the show in PERFECT. it’s so unfair.
One Mississippi was one of the best shows that I have ever watched. I could really relate myself to tig, I had gone thru a very similar experience growing up and going thru my life now. Please bring it back.
Amazon, please bring back One Mississippi. One of the best shows on Amazon. I can’t stand not knowing what will happen with the characters I have so quickly come to care about! Maybe I should cancel my Prime subscription (which i use A LOT) to make a statement! This show is meaningful and deep and different from anything I’ve seen.
I am so disappointed in Amazon’s decision to cancel One Mississippi. It has some of the most intelligent writing and acting of any series I’ve seen in years. What a mistake to cancel it.
It’s really to bad Amazon has made the decision to cancel One Mississippi. The show is so good, the writing is phenomenal . So disappointed in Amazon !
SOB, Amazon! That show was fantastic! THIS is the show you cancel? WTH?
Amazon is going with the “tide of amnesia” by removing support for feminist shows. What a bore.
Tig Notaro’s show was the most intelligent and was full of subtle emotions. I hope Netflix picks One Mississippi up.
Women’s voices are so vital, now and always.
I am so saddened to hear it isn’t coming back. I hope another network brings it back. This was Ana amazing series and it deserves to keep going. I am not sure I’ll
Keep my amazon prime anymore.
i just binged both seasons this weekend and was looking for the 3rd. i am deeply disappointed to see this show has been cancelled. i hope it gets picked up by netflix. it is one of the best shows out there!! love u tig!!!
HUGE Disappointment!
This is a huge disappointment. I was so looking forward to Season 3. I thoroughly enjoyed this show. I hope to see Tig somewhere else soon.
Gee, I thought that Amazon had enough market share to avoid an excuse like reaching out to a “wider audience.” One Mississippi is an intelligent show that will be missed.
Huge mistake by Amazon here. One Mississippi is one of very few reasons for me to get Prime membership. Now, no thanks. There is no other Prime Original content I can relate to. Transparent is a great idea with horrible execution. All characters turns crazy in that show, with lots of distorted representation of lesbian and transgender. Susie in Mrs. Maisel is a very closeted gay, at best. So, it seems Amazon going backward in time. I am shocked by this “wider audience” excuse. One Mississippi is one of the widest in its character pool. There are conservative and liberal… Read more »
One Mississippi is a very important series for many reasons. I hope it finds a home somewhere else.
I’m offended and miserable that they are taking her down. It’s like taking Ellen down back in the day and I hope Tig leaves Amazon in the dust and the company pays a big price for pretending to be looking for a broader audience.
