First, FOX cancelled Lone Star and then, ABC cancelled My Generation. Not wanting to be left out, NBC has now cancelled Outlaw. The Jimmy Smits series has ceased production but viewers will still be able to see the remaining episodes.
Outlaw follows a Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer in order to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
The series debuted following the season finale of one of NBC’s biggest shows, America’s Got Talent, and could only attract moderate ratings. In its regular Friday night timeslot, Outlaw’s ratings have gone from bad to worse. This past Friday, the show hit a new low in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.9 rating and fell to just 4.10 million viewers. It was in last place in both categories.

As we previously reported, NBC shut down production last week, supposedly wanting to wait to see if viewership got better in later weeks. If that was actually the case, they didn’t wait very long. Outlaw has been cancelled and the cast and crew won’t be returning to production.
For the time being, NBC will fill the 10pm timeslot with an expanded edition of Dateline. The four remaining episodes of Outlaw will be seen on Saturday nights starting on October 16th. An episode won’t be seen on October 30th because of a previously schedule Shrek special. The last episode of Outlaw will air on November 13th.

this is a disgrace for jimmy snitts he is a fine actor and I loved the show give it a chance, it had great story lines, I say bring it back there is enough bad tv on.
Too bad you can’t seem to keep the great shows on. Please bring it back. This was a show we both enjoyed. Smart plots, current events. Will miss this show.

& keeps crap on for years. That is why I never get
Invested in any new shows on any channel. CBS also just cancelled
Medium which was previously on NBC. Another great show gone. Remember most
People tape shows on dvr so you can not go by the old rating system anymore.
Every time there is a good show on tv that makes people THINK too much they cancel it. All the networks now want are stupid comedies that no one laughs at, murder and mayhem, or sex. Give a person a show with some intelligence and thought behind it and they cancel it. Show you what our society is turning in to.
Guess we’ll stick with CBS. We love Jimmy Smits and loved Outlaw – Friday & Sat. nights are a bad time slot during football season – should’ve moved it to a week night and it would’ve done better. Thx to DVR, we watched all episodes – great show – loss for NBC!
i think it sinks. Everytime a good show is on and they cancell it. What is up. They have to be like children and follow each other these networks for fear they will be left out. Give me a break. I’m tired of this.
Sad ,to see Jimmy Smits lose another show , after all he did for NYPD Blue ,this is a mistake by NBC .

Outlaw was a thinking person’s show. The show had incredible characters, great acting, and Jimmy Smits was brilliant in his closing arguments. NBC took Trauma off the air, and that show was incredible. It seems a good show can’t make it anymore unless someone is dancing, singing, or being humiliated. I will really miss this show. Perhaps I will just stay away from intelligent shows on this network because everyone knows that NBC (Nothing But Crap) is a network that has chimps picking the line-ups. This is a great show! I have no idea why it didn’t do will maybe cause of the day and time. Way to many great shows this year not enough time to watch. They should really keep this show and try a different day and time. I’ve been a law and order fan forever love all of them except law and order Los Angelos I watch it because I feel I have to cause I’ve been a fan for so long but if you ask me cancel that and put outlaw back.

Great show. Great chemistry. Did not relate to the name of the show…”Outlaw” I thought it was a western. My husband set me straight….I have since watched all the episodes and I really look forward to watching it every week, WHAT, the show has been cancelled…Bring it back with a different name.
