First, FOX cancelled Lone Star and then, ABC cancelled My Generation. Not wanting to be left out, NBC has now cancelled Outlaw. The Jimmy Smits series has ceased production but viewers will still be able to see the remaining episodes.
Outlaw follows a Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer in order to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
The series debuted following the season finale of one of NBC’s biggest shows, America’s Got Talent, and could only attract moderate ratings. In its regular Friday night timeslot, Outlaw’s ratings have gone from bad to worse. This past Friday, the show hit a new low in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.9 rating and fell to just 4.10 million viewers. It was in last place in both categories.

As we previously reported, NBC shut down production last week, supposedly wanting to wait to see if viewership got better in later weeks. If that was actually the case, they didn’t wait very long. Outlaw has been cancelled and the cast and crew won’t be returning to production.
For the time being, NBC will fill the 10pm timeslot with an expanded edition of Dateline. The four remaining episodes of Outlaw will be seen on Saturday nights starting on October 16th. An episode won’t be seen on October 30th because of a previously schedule Shrek special. The last episode of Outlaw will air on November 13th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see it go? Why do you think it didn’t attract a bigger audience?

I liked the show & its controversial topics. I don’t think you take into account how many people record what they watch. I record all programs past 8pm and try to catch up on weekends. I’m not done watching recorded shows until the summer season begins. If you count recorded shows it would probably show the same, if not more, people watching it. Also, I think more people record it because of it being on Friday nights.

I am disappointed in NBC’s handling of this show. The switch from nights made it tough to follow when it would be on. Seems the networks do like to juggle shows and in doing so we lose some good ones. I love the show…to see how an accused person can get a bum rap and then have someone come in and believe in justice is fantastic. To fight against what the norm believes is so difficult this made a great show. We need more like this one.
Bring it back!!! Maybe FOX will pick it up
Where will Jimmy Be NOW!
Im so disapointed that they canceld THIS SHOW!
I LOVED IT!!!
Thats what NBC does….sad……..I looked forward to it every week……
I watched it because of Jimmy S…….:(
the show was good /both my husband and l enjoyed it. Sorry to see it go!!
l can not watch another stupid reality show!!
I really like this show and am devastated it has been cancelled so quickly. I really don’t understand how this happens at the networks, but I must be the odd one because a lot of shows I like are cancelled. Very UNhappy!!
Please! This is a GREAT show! With all the awful shows on TV, why would they cancel one that is actually good?
I think this is a very well put together show. It’s believable which is more than can be said about other shows. I will sorely miss it. Shame on NBC.
What is wrong with NBC. This show has some grit. I am very ticked off that they are cancelling a show that is actually worth watching. People who have been watching this show, will not watch some ridiculous, simple crap that put on. I’ll read a book instead.
Excellent show. Need some intelligence to watch it.
Sad to see this show canceled, it was really good. Very strange the shows that people like.
terrible show, i turned the premiere off within 4 minutes due to it’s clear liberal biasness. when a show is that outlandishly biased towards the democratic party it is not going to be successful. i would have expected nothing less from nbc though.
Disappointed NBC did not give it a chance. Good chemistry between characters.
Smits is always great. Hopefully, show will reappear.
My family LOVES this show!!!!! It proves and shows how one person with the help of others (employees), make a difference and stand for rights in the court system. DO NOT NEED TO BE CANCELED.
show stunk, liberal crap and unrealistic, suitable for the moron.
