Unfortunately, Parenthood has never been a hit TV show in the ratings. Fortunately, the numbers have been good enough to keep it from being cancelled each year. Will the Braverman family’s luck hold out? Time will tell.
An ensemble family drama, the cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Craig T. Nelson, Dax Shepard, Erika Christensen, Joy Bryant, Lauren Graham, Mae Whitman, Max Burkholder, Miles Heizer, Monica Potter, Peter Krause, Sam Jaeger, Sarah Ramos, Savannah Paige Rae, and Tyree Brown.
Season four of Parenthood typically airs on Tuesdays nights at 10pm on the NBC network. They’ve ordered 15 episodes.
These are the TV show’s ratings for the 2012-13 season, the best way to tell if Parenthood is going to be cancelled or renewed for season five.

It wasn’t a great start of the season. Though Parenthood won its timeslot (opposite reruns), it was down year-to-year by 14% in the coveted demo (vs a 2.2 rating) and down by 13% in total viewers (vs 6.29 million). This isn’t a big surprise however since each season opener has been lower than the one before it.
Reference point: The 2011-12 season of Parenthood averaged a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.13 million viewers.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

Parenthood is a wonderful show. Please don’t cancel it. I’m disappointed to see the season finale so early. This show is a lot better than a lot of the shows that are on the air, especially all of the reality shows.
Seems like every good show gets the axe. Save us from reality tv..Please don’t cancel. It is a great show.
It would break my heart to see this show go. It’s my families favorite show and we all sit and watch together. The story lines are so relatable…and the acting is superb!! Love it!!! Please give us another season!!!
Please renew, this is the best show on TV today! I DVR this show every week, do those of us that DVR shows get counted in the rating numbers? I love to watch my shows in peace when the kids are in bed asleep…
I cannot tell you what a mistake it would be to take this show off the air. This show deals with issues that span all ages from elementary age thru grandparenting, dealing with life issues with love and the bond of family being at the forefront. Why can’t wholesome shows that make you fell good, make you cry and help you connect with situations in your own life that are challenging, make it in this day and age? I DVR this show every week and I am wondering if those of us who do DVR it, do we get counted… Read more »
I would hate to see it cancelled. It is one of my favorite shows. Just for the record, I think Sarah and Hank should be a couple. I like Mark, but he is too young for her. Please don’t cancel it!
It’s a tough timeslot. I for one end up watching it online the next morning because I have trouble staying up that late. Maybe 9PM would be better. It’s too bad those who watch online aren’t considered part of the viewership because I think the ratings would be much higher if they saw how many people take advantage of the online episodes. I really hope it comes back. It is a phenomenal show and there’s no way that if next week was the final week that everything could be tied up in a pretty little bow. There’s too much unfinished… Read more »
Please bring this show back!! The best show on network television!!
Show is so real would hate to see it go. I love it
I am sick of reality TV , ugh, and reality shows that copy others. I remember when a television show would start in January and end in the spring. A season finale in January? No wonder so many shows don’t make it. No one gets a chance. If they cancel this it will be as bad as when they canceled Harry’s Law. Another show with decent ratings. People should boycot the alphabet networks.
Parenthood is an amazing show! With so many shows out there not worth watching this is one I cannot miss. Everyone I know watches it. There is no other show out there so real and helpful. It makes my cry and laugh all the time.
This show is fantastic! If it gets cancelled, then the network needs to re-think why some other shows with no plot are still on. The acting is superb and the plot lines are excellent and deal with real-life issues. They touch on everything. Come back for another season Parenthood!! We need you!!
I really think Parenthood is one of the best shows on tv. It is so well-written, with dialogue that feels real, with situations all families struggle with. I would miss Parenthood and I hope it will be renewed again and again.
I love the show. I hope there is a season 5. I look forward to Tuesday nights because of parenthood.
Parenthood is my favorite show & I look forward to Tuesday night to unwind with a new episode each week! Love the cast & hope the show is not cancelled. Keeping my fingers crossed for Season 5!
