NBC has decided to bring their freshman drama, Parenthood, back for a second season.
Parenthood follows the joys and challenges of the Braverman family from Northern California. The large cast includes Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Mae Whitman, Miles Heizer, Erika Christensen, Sam Jaeger, Dax Shepard, Joy Bryant, Monica Potter, Sarah Ramos, and Max Burkholder.
The show got off to a positive start in early March with a 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.1 million viewers. The numbers fell to a 2.6 and 6.1 million viewers the following week and dropped even further in week three.
These past few weeks though, Parenthood seems to have settled in to a 2.5 rating and about 6.3 million viewers. That typically translates into Parenthood either sitting in second place or tying for first with CBS’ The Good Wife in the demo.
NBC says that the drama appeals to a high percentage of households with incomes over $100,000 in the key demo and adds about 30% more audience when the time-shifted viewing is figured in. Considering the rest of NBC’s schedule, it’s no surprise that they’ve renewed Parenthood for another season.
The peacock network will announce its 2010-11 schedule on May 17th. Its expected that the Parenthood will return in the fall (rather than mid-season) and keep its current timeslot.
What do you think? Are you glad that Parenthood has been renewed for a second season?

Love this show and all the characters. PLease keep it on the air!
Happy to see the show come back for another season
The show last night really hit home. I too have a son with autism and experienced the same thing as the scene at the amusement park. I was took my son to Disneyland once and he had many meltdowns throughout the day due to waiting in line, rides not working, etc. The looks that I received from onlookers (including my sister) were horrible. I didn’t try to discipline him as others felt I should but reached out to comfort him as I knew how he was feeling and why. Do you know how I can get a copy of this… Read more »
Please Do NOT cancel this show, I love the show; its the closest thing to real family good and bad times…… Love the show, please leave it on air. And do we have to really wait till fall? If we could watch through the summer that would totally rock 🙂 by the way the best cast I’ve seen in a long time for a show, they all compliment each other so perfectly
I really enjoyed Parenthood until last week. I thought it was a family show but the explicit sex on last weeks show changed all that. I think the “trying to make a baby” scene in the bathroom was uncalled for and overly explicit. If you were going for shock value you got it. I can no longer watch this program with my family. Too bad.
Its really not that serious, “you can’t watch the show anymore”…… Listen the 1950′ s are over and these kinds of things happen in real life, do get out of your shell and stop being over dramatic
Kind regards
PARENTHOOD is unquestionably one of the best written, acted, and directed TV series on a standard network in some time. We would urge NBC to keep t this fine show on the air!
I am with you on this one, love the show 🙂
My husband and I LOVE Parenthood. It deals with real life situations, no violence and thank God it isn’t another cop show. BUT, last night we were mad and angry that the show seems to be taking the wrong direction. There were a lot of sex scenes which are unecessary. The show is awesome with out all of that garbage. Come on Parenthood producers and writers be different for once…keep the sex scenes out. You don’t need them. Don’t be so tasteless and have a dad cheat on his finance in fact that part last night totally turned us away… Read more »
My husband and I rented the first season of Parenthood. We looked forward to each episode. As parents and grandparents we could relate in so many ways. The finale was so emotional and we are very happy that there will be a second season. Please keep it going.
I serisously do not know what I will do if Parenthood is cancelled!!!!!! to think of all the reality TV that goes on for YEARS…it is unthinkable that a true to life, down to earth show like this would come to an end. I will do what I can to keep this show going. Show your support NOW!!!!!!!!
This show is so helpful in everyday life showing what trials we may go through as a family and as parents. It’s so good to watch, it’s got everything we could want in a family show!!! Love it!!! Please keep it going!!!
KEEP PARENTHOOD!
A large group of us gather each week at my house! We watch our fave show, Parenthood, over dinner, tears and laughs! Please don’t take that away from us NBC!
THANKS!!!!
My husband and I LOVE Parenthood. It’s so well written and love the cast. Unfortunately there are not many shows on television that we like but this is a winner! Please keep it on the air..
I LOVE PARENTHOOD and guess what! I’m 69 years old! Outstanding writing, outstanding acting,
outstanding camera work. How refreshing to see “family members” discuss, compromise, solve (or
not solve at this point in time i. e. Haddie and Alex) in a civil manner. THANK YOU for renewing this
outstanding program for another season. Now find a time slot where you’re not killing it (far away from
the Good Wife). I compare this program to Friday Night Lights in every way–and look what happened
to THAT show. PLEASE do ALL you can to increase your audience–NO MATTER WHAT THEIR AGES!
Oh, PLEASE leave this well-written show on the air !! In this era of the blood-and-guts dramas, it is very refreshing …..finally !…to be able to relax and view something decent !!!!
I love this show……………….please keep Parenthood show on the air!!!!!
As a parent, I can relate to this show. Love the cast from grandparents to grandchildren!!
Please keep Parenthood on the air…I agree with all the comments above. If I miss an episode I catch up with it online. There just aren’t any good family shows to watch any more…and the cast is fantastic! Love the family dynamics…reminds me of the days before reality TV!!
