NBC has decided to bring their freshman drama, Parenthood, back for a second season.
Parenthood follows the joys and challenges of the Braverman family from Northern California. The large cast includes Lauren Graham, Peter Krause, Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Mae Whitman, Miles Heizer, Erika Christensen, Sam Jaeger, Dax Shepard, Joy Bryant, Monica Potter, Sarah Ramos, and Max Burkholder.
The show got off to a positive start in early March with a 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.1 million viewers. The numbers fell to a 2.6 and 6.1 million viewers the following week and dropped even further in week three.
These past few weeks though, Parenthood seems to have settled in to a 2.5 rating and about 6.3 million viewers. That typically translates into Parenthood either sitting in second place or tying for first with CBS’ The Good Wife in the demo.
NBC says that the drama appeals to a high percentage of households with incomes over $100,000 in the key demo and adds about 30% more audience when the time-shifted viewing is figured in. Considering the rest of NBC’s schedule, it’s no surprise that they’ve renewed Parenthood for another season.
The peacock network will announce its 2010-11 schedule on May 17th. Its expected that the Parenthood will return in the fall (rather than mid-season) and keep its current timeslot.
What do you think? Are you glad that Parenthood has been renewed for a second season?

I am SOOO glad there will be a Season 2 for Parenthood. I really love this show as the actors seem so natural in their roles. ALL of them! I love the stories within each family. My only complaint??? The hour is too short – too fast! 😉
Thank you for bringing it back.
We love the show! We are so glad it’s coming back. It is well casted, very well written and extremely entertaining!! As parents of young children and one of us being from a large family of siblings, we can relate to the story lines!!
Kudos to Lauren Graham, Mae Whitman, and Monica Potter— you guys are great in the show. I’ve been a long time fan of all of you!!
I am soooo glad that they are bringing this show back for a second season. This is the only show I have to look forward to now that LOST has ended. I cry every episode. Such a moving and powerful show.

So ecstatic to hear that there will be second season! I can totally relate and it’s a great show! I most especially love Lauren Graham!
I am so glad that it has been renewed. While I like crime drama a lot, this show brings something different to tv that is missing. I love it and look forward to the next season.
I love this show. I do wish it was on earlier in the night and have had to hulu it a couple times because it is on so late, but really loved it. I’m glad that they put in such a wonderful series. So much truer to real life, especially the characters. Yay NBC!
I am so glad to see this show is coming back for a second season! The show is fresh, the cast is amazing and the writing is beautifully understated and witty. NBC, you’ve done it again!
I am thrilled that the show has been renewed. The show is real, which is a rarity on TV today. I love it and look forward to season 2.

LOVE PARENTHOOD ONE OF THE GREATEST SERIES THAT N.B.C. I AM GLAD THAT THEY HAVE GIVEN THEM A SECOND YEAR, EVERYONE ON THE SHOW IS GOOD, AND THE STORY LINES ARE ALSO WELL WRITTEN, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
So glad it’s coming back! I love this show!!
We have enjoyed the show and was sad to see it come to a close. We look forward to season two. LOVE IT!!
I enjoy the show, because it mimics life. I feel connected and know each character personally via friends, family, and work. I’m also happy that Jasmine and Crosby’s characters are connecting. Interracial couples do stay together, and their families do get along in the real world.
