CBS is no longer interested in Person of Interest. Deadline reports the series has been cancelled after five seasons.
Person of Interest stars Jim Caviezel as a former CIA agent who teams up with a billionaire genius (Michael Emerson) to prevent crime.
The cancellation isn’t new news. Though the series was renewed for a 13-episode fifth season last year, Person of Interest has been rumored to be coming to an end for awhile.
Ratings have declined for the series in recent years, and last season, the show took a dip when it moved nights. This winter, series producer J.J. Abrams even said the fifth season would probably be the show’s last.
From series creator Jonah Nolan and executive producer Greg Plageman, in a press statement:
We’re extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We’re eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show’s fans — the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it’s been our great privilege to work on the show for the past five seasons. We can’t wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter.”
The fifth and final season of Person of Interest premieres on May 3rd on CBS.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Person of Interest? Do you think it should’ve been cancelled or renewed for a sixth season?
I think the show should be renewed. With the current NSA activities, the show could take more of a realistic approach to current events.
CBS hit the trifecta with Person of Interest, Blue Bloods and Elementary. POA is one of the best written shows on TV..The ensemble is terrific..morals and values are displayed..keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. I wish CBS would reconsider and not let this wonderful show end. There are too many trashy reality shows and mind numbing sitcoms. This show was perfect. I used to look forward to it all week long.
Loved this show ! Seems that all people want is bad taste sitcoms !
This is one of the best shows on CBS. Will never miss it! Why would they want to cancel this show? Why don’t they take a survey of the fans before making these decisions. Let’s keep it going!
Best Show Ever! Watched since day 1!!! Always looked forward to each new season. Don’t watch TV much, but couldn’t wait for “Person of Interest”! I know there is a lot of shows that are not that interesting. At least this show always kept you intrigued! Gone miss it!
I can’t begin to tell you how horrified I am to learn that YET ANOTHER FANTASTIC show is cancelled. Replace the executives and get some real people in there who understand what a good show offers the audiences. The current decisions being made certainly don’t understand. A wonderful cast and a show that kept you interested has been cancelled leaving a audience that is now turning to streaming instead of wasting time watching the other trash left on the main stations.
To bad it’s a very good show!
A good show get cut, when bad shows live on, why?
Too bad CBS doesn’t have a mktng dept who is concerned with content. Seems to be more concerned with cheap shows at the loss of great character actors. Mike and Molly, POI, The Good Wife. Your ratings will bring to bare out what I am saying. Your financial loss. After all I am moving to Apple TV and streaming.
So sad to see this intelligent drama end. The twists and turns in plot lines as well as some recurring bad guys was realistic and exciting at the same time. CHANGING NIGHTS was the problem and cost you ratings for sure. Why is it that networks change off nights when a series begins to take hold with a ready audience. Bad form CBS… We are changing to USA and dumping network tv.
This is my favorite show on tv and I’m very disappointed that its ending. I know a ton of people who watch it and who are equally disappointed. This is one show that makes you THINK as you watch it, and isn’t the regular mindless drivel. It’s also the only show that I watch on CBS now.
I totally agree. I love this show and for all the reasons Christi mentioned.
I am extremely disappointed. Person of Interest is one of my absolute favorites, and I will miss it.
Maybe Netflix will pick up the show like they did with Longmire. POI is a great show and should be on for a few more years. It’s a damn shame they have to get rid of a great show.
I would have to subscribe to Netflix if they picked up Person of Interest!
REALLY SAD this was cancelled. One show I waited to see every week. Great cast and writers.
Absolutely think it should a renewed and keep going on as it is the only one of its kind and has a great cast…..I’ve been waiting for it to come back not thinking twice that its ratings were so bad, so sad…..
