Last week, we reported that Person of Interest executive producer J.J. Abrams said the series will likely be cancelled after its upcoming fifth season. Now, CBS has stated that the decision to cancel or renew will not be made before season five premieres in the spring.
Person of Interest was renewed for a 13-episode fifth season back in May.
Speaking at the TCA winter press tour, CBS executive Glenn Geller said the creators of Person of Interest “have planned a terrific season,” and the network “hope[s] to get it on this spring.”
While CBS is keeping silent about plans for the series, Abrams said the creative team is planning the upcoming season as if it were its last:
“My guess is [Season 5] is the final season. The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued. … But, obviously, things can be adjusted if [there’s] a miraculous [ratings] performance. But I think the idea is that this would be the finale.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Person of Interest? Do you think the next season will be its last?
Person of Interest has compelling intelligent stories and great acting. If there are more great story lines in the works, the series should absolutely be continued. It is one of the best shows on tv.
Person of Interest should not be cancelled. It seems if a show does not have sex ,nudity, plus foul language its runs the risk of being cancelled. What a shame. Please keep POI on the air. Its a interesting, and action packed program.
Say it ain’t so! We look forward to POI each week and have been eagerly anticipating season 5.
Person Of Interest is one of the best shows on television, with great actors and story lines. I realize I am not supposed to be rude or insulting, but really, who makes these decisions to cancel the best shows and leave the stupid ones on the air?
It seems now a days if programs don’t have nudity or sexual contents, the networks chop them, This is a program I have watched since episode one. I have cried, laughed been at the edge of my seat and ALWAYS looked forward to the next season. CBS shame on you for cancelling an excellent program probably to put more garbage like the other networks. Please keep giving us quality tv, don’t cancel Person of Interest.
Person Of Interest is a Great Show!! I do not understand why they would cancel this show. My family and I waited every week for POI to come on. POI IS A GREAT SERIES!! It would be a huge mistake to cancel POI. POI has great actors, great writers and great story lines. POI is greatly loved, so why cancel a series that holds everyone’s interest??
Please keep this show on!! It is just as exciting and interesting as when it began. Great stories and great actors.
Please don’t cancel this show. Great stories, great interaction with your actors. It has not gotten to a point of boredom or the actors appearing to just go through the actions of acting like many other shows.
CBS….I really do hope you keep POI on your network. It is one of the few I enjoy watching, I would hate to see it cancelled.
There is SO much garbage on TV – it’s sad to see a good one go. What would they replace it with, a “reality” show? Oh yeah, we don’t have enough of those —
I would hope for this show, Person Of Interest, to continue. It’s one of a hand full of shows I actually find interesting and like. Please CBS don’t cancel.
Best show when you didn’t battle computer against computer. Miss dhae
this show is so “relevant” in the ed snowden era. if cbs makes it “irrelevant”, our job to save it? don’t do it CBS
Love the show. I would hate to see it go.
P.O.I. Is one of the best series on television . It would be a great loss to all the fans and CBS. as it is their only hit show.
