Can Team Machine free humanity from Samaritan? Whose number is up in the June 21st Person of Interest TV show finale? Creator and executive producer Jonathan Nolan and fellow EP Greg Plagemen aren’t saying, but they did discuss the final days of the series, starring Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Kevin Chapman, and Sarah Shahi.
Reporting from the ATX TV Festival in Austin TX, Deadline says the only finale detail the duo let slip is that “Return 0” features a Fitbit. Per the report, Nolan said it is “more of an emotional finale” than expected. He also said the series finale will “revisit relationships that we never got a chance to get to before,” adding that “doesn’t work out so well.”
Here is more from Deadline:
“It didn’t quite end exactly as we anticipated,” Nolan said, but promised that “the body count is the same.”
On the ending of season 5, Nolan mentioned that while they “had a good idea that this was probably it,” the creators “would have loved to have done more season [sic].” However, being able to give it a proper send-off “is a great position to be in.”
Despite a shortened season, Nolan said that although he felt that they had a “lot to say about these characters,” the brevity didn’t take away from the any essential elements to the storyline. Plageman also didn’t rule out the possibility of a reboot. “Regardless of the characters, it’s something I can see another incarnation of someday” he said, but warned “I think by the time the bloodbath of the finale is over you might have different thoughts.”
Here is the CBS press release for the Person of Interest TV series finale, “Return 0.”

What do you think? Did CBS cancel the Person of Interest TV show too soon? What do you want to see happen in the Person of Interest TV series finale?
It truly saddens me to see a good show like P I cancelled because we CBS got no money out of the show. On the hand this leaves Warner Bros. open to redirect this series to a cabel interest. Maybe HBO or CW can work out some details and make P I even better that before. Thanks CBS for the reboot. As we all know ‘ Machines never die; they just live on some where else. ‘
wish it was not the final! Love this show!
people die machines live and battle each other as the Olympian gods of old.
using different proxy humans around the world.
So where is Bear, the dog? Just watched episode 11 and he’s nowhere to be seen. Everybody is out of NY
POI was my favorite show of all CBS’s lineup. I wish it could have gone one more season but at least CBS gave the time to wind it up. Episode 11 was awesome and I had to rewatch it! I hope it ends on a positive note as these characters have been through so much. Good has to win over evil. Thanks to all involved with POI for years of exciting entertainment!
Should be “Return 0” instead of o.
That’s the way a zero looks in that font.
Love this show! I think it is probably good they end the show before it starts to lose its quality. That said, I’d love to see a movie sequel or two.
To be honest, Person of Interest could keep going into season 20 and still be more entertaining and intriguing then most of the reality/other crap on TV now-days.
This is true but that bar ia set pretty low by other shows in my opinion. I actually ignored this show for years because it looked like just another cop show from the outside. Honestly, I was getting a little bored with the original premise of the show, too. It’s all the character stuff that keeps it interesring for me, ironically, the 2 machines more than the human charactets at this point.
