NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

Yes i absolutely love this show! it got me hooked and i DEFINITELY want to see Season 2 come out as well as many more!!
I’m beginning to think I have no taste in TV shows. Almost all the shows I like are being canceled. This was a great show as was Happy Town and Flash Forward. I like the mystery in these type of shows. Neelsons families who rate the TV shows must be real air heads.
This show is awesome! it’s the first show that didn’t have any boring episodes or episodes that didn’t have any meaning. of course some things aren’t realsitic in this show like when they drove with the van into the light and eneded up back to to the town, warp technology isn’t possible, well not in 2010 at least, nonetheless this show is awesome and should return for a second season if only NBC or any other network give the right amount of money to produce a second season so it wouldn’t turn to crap. As sad as it is to say, you cannot be surprised that NBC is pulling the show. I would do anything to see it return for a second season as my friends have just begun to gain interest and the shows popularity is starting to spread (at least where i live), but as we all know NBC is a corporation. They are never truthful, such as the lie about answering all viewers questions, and to them the shows are nothing other than a figure on paper. This is the best show, it has to continue with a second season. They could do a split between the old group now in level two and Joes group back in level one. My whole family watches it and LOVES it so I hope they won’t screw up and cancel this great series like they have so many others!
I absolutely love this show. It was so bizarre and frustrating and I couldn’t get enough. Please bring it back. I am lost without it.
I agree with D Reasonover this was a pretty descent show. I would really like to see it continue, or maybe thier scared to get too big of a fan base then let everybody down like losts pathetic ending. If theres no season 2 maybe I’ll wright a script and present it to Hollywood. Thats how powerful I feel about this show, hell I’m not such a bad writer myself.

How can NBC not return this show? It is so irritating to put an entire season of a sci-fi show out there, leave a huge cliff hanger, and then cancel the show. I liked the show, liked the story, liked the characters and I generally do not like sci-fi stuff. Please bring this show back NBC or maybe some other network will pick it up.
