PBS is taking on the news. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is teaming up with the BBC for a new series titled Press.
From Mike Bartlett, the six-part drama will “explore the turbulent media landscape through the fortunes of competing broadsheet and tabloid papers and the very different and colorful characters who work for them.”
PBS will co-produce Press with BBC Studios, Deep Indigo, and Lookout Point.
From producer Nigel Stafford-Clark:
At a time when both the nature and the role of the press have themselves become part of the news, there’s never been a better moment to focus on this unique world as the basis of a major television series. And I can’t think of anyone better to take that on than Mike Bartlett.”
What do you think? Do you watch PBS? Would you watch Press?
Press is one thé thé best shows to have debuted on PBS! I would watch it like yesterday ! Excellent storyline, excellent acting, directing , producing!! My question is what’s taking it so long to return?
One of the best written and acted on PBS
Watch weekly
I think it’s very sad that anyone would choose to glorify and make an entire series about the degeneration of what networks are choosing to call journalism. The act of reporting the news seems ancient when viewing the words and actions of today’s reporters . It is much more about negative sensationalism than reporting the day’s events. Today’s so-called journalists are no more than commentators giving their or their network’s opinion about any given person in the news, slanting the story in the hope of drawing more viewers into their web of intrigue.
It is sad that people do not understand the role of journalist–they report the facts. People who shout “Fake news” are doing it to divert people from reading and understanding the news that is based on facts. The people who suport the conspiracy theories add to destruction of our society–they do not base their theories on facts just conjecture.
