Court will soon be adjourned for the Mark-Paul Gosselaar drama, Raising the Bar. TNT has decided to cancel the series after two seasons but, there may still be more to come.
From executive producer Steven Bochco, Raising the Bar revolves around a group of law school classmates who work on opposite sides of the courtroom. The drama’s cast includes Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben, Currie Graham, Melissa Sagemiller, J. August Richards, Jonathan Scarfe, Teddy Sears, Jane Kaczmarek, Stacy Hall, Natalia Cigliuti, Paul Joyner, Wayne Lopez, Jon Polito, and Angel Oguendo.
Back on September 1, 2008, the series premiere attracted 7.7 million viewers. That set a record for TNT as the biggest audience for a new series launch on regular cable. Unfortunately, much of the audience didn’t return for later episodes which averaged 5.5 million. Despite an early decline, TNT renewed the series for a second season.

On June 8th, season two of Raising the Bar attracted just 3.6 million and shed half of the audience of its lead-in, The Closer.
As a result of the low ratings, the cable channel has cancelled the legal drama. Via a statement, a TNT representative said, “Everyone at TNT had a great experience working on Raising the Bar with Steven Bochco and the rest of the show’s terrific cast and crew. We’re proud of the series and appreciate the efforts of all of the creative people who were involved. Unfortunately, ratings for Raising the Bar’s second season did not reach the levels required for TNT to renew the series.”
TNT had opted to split the second season into two parts. The first dozen episodes finished airing on August 24th. That leaves three episodes on the shelf. It was expected that they would air in early 2010 but they haven’t been given airdates yet.

I cant believe they cancelled the show. I was so happy when i saw TNT saved southland and i was looking forward to raising the bar this summer. That show was the best and TNT is about to lose a viewer because other than Leverage and Southland thats the only reason i’ve ever watch anything on TNT
Really sad that this series is canelled… This was great show and I could only imagine how the story line could go on and on.
I loved the show and was totally disappointed with its cancellation. I looked forward to it each week and had hoped TNT would have had more faith in the show. I have no idea why it had low ratings other than maybe it wasn’t advertised enough. Bring it back – great cast – great episodes each week.

I really liked Raising the Bar and thought it was a mistake to cancel it. The characters, storyline and real-to-life scenarios that were depicted on the show is what made it a must-see!! I wondered what happened to it and TNT did end up airing the last 3 episodes on the shelf, many probably didn’t see them…. thank God for Tivo! TNT ran the 3 remaining episodes back-to back-to-back on December 24th 2009. I watched them all and I am really gonna miss the show.

So VERY disappointed to learn they have cancelled “Raising the Bar!” It was my favorite show. I hope they reconsider and bring it back. The were great and the storylines so real.
This was my favorite show and very sorry that it has been canceled. I thought all of the actors part their parts very well. Some you liked and some you hated. I wanted to see more of Jerry and Bobbie’s relationship.
I am really ticked off that it was canceled! I think it was one of the best shows on television. I don’t remember what it was up against last season but there hasn’t been a better lawyer/court drama to equal ‘Law & Order’ until ‘R the B’ started. I didn’t miss a single episode. ‘Hawthorne’ made it for another season and it’s not even close to as good as ‘ER’ once was??!! Bring the Bar back & give it another shot. Put it in a better time slot or on a better day!
It’s sad when the public gets NO VOTE in when a show that’s so popular as “Raising the Bar”. I hate it the some big wigs at TNT can mess with what I like to watch. This is the reason that I stopped watching CBS. They canceled a show that I watched every Friday and I don’t watch that station anymore. So I guess TNT will get the same treatment as well. So, if the executives at TNT want to loose viewers; then by all means, cancel all of your other “popular” shows.
