Ray Donovan viewers have received the closure they were seeking when the Showtime drama series returned a two-hour movie. The film is a condensed version of what was planned for season eight. Showtime surprisingly cancelled Ray Donovan after seven seasons in February 2020. Star Liev Schreiber has said that the plan was to end the show with an eighth season.

The Ray Donovan film saw Ray (Schreiber) spend the film tracking his father Mickey (Voight) down before he can do more damage. The movie ends with Mickey’s death at the hand of Ray’s daughter, Bridget (Kerris Dorsey).
Will viewers see more of Ray Donovan in a future Showtime film? Schreiber said the following about the possibility of more in an interview with TV Line:
“This is the end for me. For now. But if somebody creates a new narrative and it makes sense, I don’t see why [it couldn’t continue down the road]. But there’s nothing in the works.”
However, executive producer and director David Hollander gave a more definitive answer to that question:
“Yes. For sure. This is the conclusion of the story of the series. If something different were to come up, I don’t know what would happen there. But this is the end of the story of the series.”

Yes, too bad not seeing more of Ray and the rest. Was a great show with great and excellent actors.
Huh? Did he go to prison? Did he die? I love Ray Donovan and I hated to see it go but seriously? It rehashed previous storylines but it couldn’t take an extra 10 minutes to let me know if he went to prison or died? Oh well. Guess I’ll leave it to my imagination. I remember when TV cared about their fans and wrapped shows up before they took them off the air. Remember The Fugitive? Nuff said.
WHY did they have to cancel this series Ray Donavan?? Liev Schriber and all the actor are super great and loved this show. PLEASE BRING IT BACK for new series 8 or something other than The movie. Huge fan
I LOVED the character “RAY” in every episode… I thought the movie does/did leave an opening to continue … a possible (final) season that will end will Ray finding love again.. but not until some turmoil (wouldn’t want to kill the character completely) to fit the character as only Ray can..
After viewing the ratings for “Ray Donavan the movie”, I hope Showtime will see their error and create a new narrative for continuing the show. If not, big mistake!!!
Great great show with tremendous actors. They could do a lot of cool spin-offs. Including more of the stuff from back in the days

I think SHOWTIME,Blew the ending of the most popular show they had, what kind of business sense is that!! The show was very entertaining,and kept me watching ,guess its time to move on!
Well I was hoping for another Season. I loved this show..The Chemistry of Liev Shriber and Jon Voight acting was Aw some. It had a Great cast. I felt that they rushed everything to get to the End in The Movie. And there was no mention of Rays Son…. What so ever. I would like to see this Show come back in some form….look they were ALL dealing with their own problems….maybe they can continue the story
I think it was rushed. There’s so much happening that it could have used more time to focus more on the details. The characters didn’t sound the same or act the same. The music was a let down. The music in the series was the best and really got you into the scene. A season would have been better.
The 2hrs was better than nothing but I thought the young ray ‘flashbacks’ we’re tiresome regardless what they revealed
RAY is the only reason I subscribed like STARZ reason was POWER
As some monies do…. I just subscribed to Paramount… slim pickings so far but can’t beat Yellowstone (more seasons to come) and 1883 another dandy
Liev needs to move on…he is a consummate actor…I’ll miss the Donavan boys…but talk about damaged…whew!…
The writers sure dug deep for each character … harsh … but lets face it, a lot of truth in its starkness
I would likee to see it come back in some form. The way t ended Ray could come back as anythng and I would watch him. I loved the whole cast.
Exactly my thoughts and don’t fool yourself they did end the “movie” with a possibility of another season. they are just waiting for feed back
It wasn’t funny or had any happy moments. there’s still loads could happen to early to end it another series please
I truly believe that it’s more to the story that can be told. Each character was dealing with their own demons so why not touch on that. Then find ways which the were able to overcome or not. Not everyone can have a happy ending at least let them tell their story. So yes 1 or 2 more seasons will be good.
