SundanceTV Renews Critically-Acclaimed Original Scripted Drama “RECTIFY” For Season Three
New York, NY – August 19, 2014 – SundanceTV announced today the renewal of the network’s first wholly owned original scripted series “Rectify” slated to air in 2015. The haunting story of a man released from prison after spending nearly two decades on death row, “Rectify” is created and written by Ray McKinnon (The Accountant, “Deadwood,” “Sons of Anarchy”), and executive produced by Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, the award-winning producers behind “Breaking Bad.” Season two will finale on August 21st at 9pm EST.
Sarah Barnett, SundanceTV President, stated, “‘Rectify’ has evolved into a show much loved by critics and fans. As SundanceTV’s first scripted series, it’s gratifying to see such distinctive and unusual storytelling embraced with such passion. Ray McKinnon is a true television auteur, and we can’t wait to see where he takes us next.”
“Rectify” tells the story of Daniel Holden (Aden Young) who is released after serving nearly 20 years in complete isolation on death row, as he returns as an outsider to his family, to his community, and to the times. Somehow, he survived the mental and emotional strain of his imprisonment, but now the walls have suddenly come crumbling down and Daniel is set free in a world he no longer understands. He’s an outsider, lost in a once familiar world, struggling to navigate his new found freedom. Combined with two decades of technological and social changes to his small town and the larger world, everything he encounters is a puzzle. Daniel’s unexpected presence not only throws his family into disarray, it ripples out to all the people connected to his case – the prosecutor who rode the notoriety to become a State Senator, the Sheriff who pushed the boundaries of the investigation, and the entire town of Paulie, GA, that blamed him for killing one of their own. Like a deadly spark, Daniel’s release reignites the mystery, the power plays, and the questionable justice that condemned him.
Also starring in “Rectify” alongside Aden Young (Killer Elite, The Tree) as Daniel Holden are Abigail Spencer (Cowboys and Aliens, “Mad Men,” Oz the Great and Powerful), who portrays Amantha Holden, Daniel Holden’s younger sister who believes completely in his innocence and has devoted her entire adult life to securing his release; J. Smith Cameron (“True Blood”, Margaret) who plays Janet Talbot, Daniel’s loving mother, who has been living with the impending death of her son for nineteen years and who long ago had made peace with the loss of her son, giving up on any hope for his release; Luke Kirby (Take this Waltz, “Slings and Arrows”) tackles the role of Jon Stern, Daniel’s lawyer who works for an organization dedicated to exonerating the wrongfully convicted; Clayne Crawford (A Walk to Remember) portrays Ted Talbot, Jr., Daniel’s stepbrother whom he had never previously met; Adelaide Clemens (Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, The Great Gatsby) plays Tawney Talbot, Ted’s kind-hearted wife; and Jake Austin Walker (The Chaperone) plays Daniel’s half brother Jared. “Rectify” is shot on location in Griffin, Georgia, near Atlanta.

What do you think? Do you like the Rectify series? How long do you think it should run?
It must continue for another 10 seasons! Unusual characters, great acting. Everyone plays their parts to a tee.
Love the show and depth of characters…feel like I know them all. I hope it runs at least 10 seasons! 🙂
Just found this show on Netflix…please do not stop this series…I have never felt so strongly about a TV show, and actually felt the emotions of each character, their struggles ,the heartbreak and the small victories along the way that make us all human. Daniel’s just wants peace in his life and understanding , as do we all….to fit in somewhere comfortably..he see’s the good in most, regardless of their crime. The families involved on all sides also have justification for their actions and feelings and Daniel see’s all of that…this show proves that we need to be a 1000 percent… Read more »
Love Rectify!!! Have since Season one. Please give us more than 6 episodes. Love Tawney with Daniel. I also hate waiting sooo long for this series to air again, but very pleased it is coming back.
I wouldn’t waste another minute on this crap. Way to much fluff & very little continuous action moved in the direction of finishing the show. Why drag something on over one more? 3 Seasons to long. This third season is or was not necessary to make this story end well. Fluff & to much of it!
Absolutely love Rectify…Daniel is a fantastic character as are all the characters on this show. Hopefully it will be more than 6 episodes.
Honorable Woman is another fantastic surprise….and the Returned…so much better than the American version!
Red Road is ok and I will continue to watch but the show lacks a hero…there is no one to like.
Wonderful show. Please please continue and more tan six episodes, PLEASE!!
Love Rectify! Please continue series, six episodes for season 3 is not enough!
Love this show. Can’t wait from week to week for this to come on. Please keep it on for many more seasons but with more episodes. Love Daniel and Amantha. Great show.
I have just finished watching the end of season 2.Cannot wait till 2015 to see the conclusion of this great show. Really left us hanging in the last episode. Amazing acting all round and one of the best TV series for a very long time. This last hour I was enthralled, that left my mouth dry.
Rectify should have more than six shows per season. This is my favorite show of all time. It is very intelligently written, acted and directed. It is brilliant in its darkness and depth. it will be difficult for me to wait until 2015 but I will watch the shows on Netflix and the ones I have recorded from Sundance again and again. I cannot get enough of this profoundly nuanced story. Each time I watch an episode I can hardly breathe because the suspense is so great, so powerful. Bring it back for many more seasons! Please.
Rectify is the best TV show I have ever seen. The intensity is unique as the show slowly unfolds through each character. Daniel Holden’s story has touched many lives yet no one feels it more than his mother played so realistically and beautifully portrayed by J.Cameron Smith. Aden Young’s moving portrait of Daniel Holden is so touchingly realistic that one feels the character is a member of ones family or someone one has known forever. His sister, step brother, half-brother, mother, step-father are played by superb actors until now largely unknown. This show is realistic. I watch each episode at… Read more »

You are right Sharon. This show leaves you wanting more. You can actually feel the main characters. They are outstanding with all their vulnerabilities. These 10 episodes zipped write by. Very smartly written.
Love, love, love this series. I was hooked on “Rectify” the first season. However, I am disappointed that there are not more episodes! Six is definitely not enough, nor are 10 episodes when you have to wait a year for the program to pick up again. Give us more!!!
