Late in the 2013-14 season, NBC and ABC launched three new Sunday night dramas — all with single word titles. NBC cancelled Crisis and Believe while ABC renewed Resurrection for a second season. In retrospect, was that a good decision for the alphabet network? Should Resurrection have been cancelled as well?
On Resurrection, a small town in Missouri is turned upside down when long-dead loved ones return after 30 years. The cast includes Omar Epps, Frances Fisher, Matt Craven, Devin Kelley, Mark Hildreth, Samaire Armstrong, Sam Hazeldine, Landon Gimenez, and Kurtwood Smith.
Debuting on March 9th, Resurrection had a great launch with a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 13.9 million total viewers. (Those numbers are about the same as this season’s How to Get Away with Murder’s debut.)
Unfortunately, Resurrection’s ratings dropped about 19% in week two and they kept falling nearly every week of the eight episode season. The seventh installment hit a low of a 1.9 rating with 7.85 million — half of the premiere’s demo rating.

Considering the poor luck that the alphabet network had last year launching new dramas, it wasn’t much of a surprise that ABC renewed Resurrection. They didn’t have much choice. However, the ratings slide was a terrible sign for the future.
Now, the show has been really struggling in season two. After a positive second season debut, the ratings quickly dropped, falling to new series lows week after week. The October 26th installment registered a mere 1.2 rating with 4.36 million.
ABC recently ordered full seasons and additional episodes of many of their new and older shows. It was a telling sign that the network is only producing 14 episodes of Resurrection this season.
Unless the ratings improve, it looks very likely that Resurrection will be cancelled by May. Hopefully, the writers will give viewers some degree of closure before the end.

DON’T cancel this show! There are only TWO shows I watch on television anymore and Resurrection is one of them. What idiot at ABC thought ANY show would stand up to football, anyway? Put it on a different night and LEAVE it there! If this show goes, I’ll do everything in my power to convince everyone I know to quit watching ABC altogether!
Please don`t cancel Resurrection!! It is one of my most favorite shows. It`s new and something different and at least the returned dead are not zombies.

Please don’t cancel Resurrection! This is my all time favorite show! My kids age 11 and 9 love it as well! they can’t just take it off and leave us all hanging! We want to know,how all these people came back from the dead,and what the baby has to do with it!!
This is a great show and should not be cancelled. I am sick of Nielsen ratings being the only thing that defines a good show. There are plenty of horrible shows with good Nielsen ratings so they get to stay on the air while good shows with bad Nielsen ratings get canned. Nielsen ratings are flawed they do represent every demographic.
NO! ABC should Not! Have cancelled Resurrection there are so few things to watch on tv anymore everything as to have people shooting each other opr everyone having sex ths wad one of my favorite shows on television that talked of belief, I loved the series believe too, come on ABC people are watching the show so why cancel it!! I was under the impression. That the show was canceled. Now that I found it again I will have yo view it in on demand or haiku.

Please don’t cancel it. The only reason it was doing bad, and lost audience earlier on in the season was because it was on at the same time as The Walking Dead, and football. Just change the time slot, and it will gain audience again. Everyone I know loves this show, and I impatiently wait for Sundays to watch it. The best thing on TV right now!

I agree about the possible devil baby story. I did not think this is where it was headed so I’m disappointed. I did enjoy both seasons up until the suggestion of an evil baby in the making. Please don’t take it in that direction.
To whom It May Concern at ABC Programming, Please do Not cancel this amazing series. It was a little frustrating Toward the End of the First Season, Things Moved Too Slowly. However, the Second Season had Things Moving at A Great Pace. I Felt as though there was Excitement and the Story Progressed Nicely Throughout Season Two! Resurrection is one of the best shows on television today.
Please do not cancel! I also hate getting hooked on a show and then it disappearing! DVR is how I watch all shows and I’m sure that doesn’t help ratings.. This is one of the better shows on tv… Please have a third season!!
