Talk about a letdown. The Rise TV show has been cancelled after just one season on NBC. The high school drama from Jason Katims, who knows a thing or two about shows like that, premiered on the Peacock Network on March 13, of 2018. Ratings for the first two episodes were good enough, but the series just couldn’t sustain its performance in the Nielsens, thereafter.
An NBC musical drama, Rise stars Josh Radnor, Rosie Perez, Auli’i Cravalho, Damon J. Gillespie, Marley Shelton, Rarmian Newton, Ted Sutherland, Amy Forsyth, Casey W. Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Joe Tippett, and Shirley Rumierk. The series centers on Lou Mazzuchelli (Radnor), who is the fictional analogue to Lou Volpe in the Michael Sokolov book, Drama High. Although he is committed to his students at Stanton High School, Lou knows he needs to shake things up, in order to rekindle his passion for teaching. To that end, he petitions to direct the school’s theater program, but soon realizes he signed up for a whole lot more than he originally expected.

What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Rise TV series on NBC? If it were up to you, would it have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Me and my daughter LOVE this show!! I cannot even imagine that it is cancelled, I am totally shocked and disappointed. We look forward to watching this show EVERY week. Terrific acting, Great story lines, So interesting. One of the BEST tv shows. So not right. I PRAY it gets continued somehow.
I’m a little late to start watching. I’m enjoying it on Hulu. Too bad it is cancelled. I would definitely watch a second season.
Loved this show, acting was phenomenal so sad it’s cancelled
Maybe another network will pick up this show. A lot of viewers I know really enjoyed the story line. Why would NBC cancel so soon, didn’t give it a chance?
I can’t believe this show was cancelled!!! It was a wonderful show. I rarely watch television however I followed this one and now it’s CANCELLED?! Obviously don’t know good entertainment if it smacked you in the head!
Love this show! Characters are SO well cast. So many good messahes. One season is not enough! I am so disappointed in NBC!!!
This was a very interesting and timely show! It should not have been cancelled! Very disappointed!
I hope It can be picked up by another network, great show, more than a story of a School play.
Very disappointed with NBC’s decision to cancel Rise. I looked forward every week to watch this important show with a very strong message of inclusion. I hope they change their mind or another network picks it up. It needs to be renewed !
Do not cancel this show. I love it and I am not in the demographic toward whom it is pitched, I am old. It is entertaining, provocative, and timely for this generation. I hope another network picks it up, please.
This show was very good. It should NOT be cancelled! I love it and I am old! Very well done, great acting, provocative story line but real! Do not, do not cancel it.
I like the concept of the show. It was a fresh set of eyes for us to view.
This is a disgraceful decision. It’s the best show I have seen in a LONG time. It’s current, provocative, well written and relevant. Sometimes shows take a few episodes to get traction. NBC should be ashamed of this decision. But it’s a FOX-type show. Maybe they will pick it up!
I certainly hope this is picked up by Netflix or another outlet. This is the rare show that is important for our times. There was hardly any publicity and when others realize it is not merely a high school play but far deeper than the ads, they become fans!
I love this show. Watch every week with my granddaughter
