FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

This show is phonemnal. Its hard to believe FOX has decided to cancel it. This was the best Tv series I have ever watched. Much better than anything on television nowadays. Each week was like I was sitting in a movie theater. What a shame Im truly devasted & heartbroken that it will not be back for a second season.
I can’t believe this me and my husband love this show. But y’all can keep crazy Empire on with gay love scenes and with the loud mouth black women talking crazy to everyone but when you put something that is real and that it’s really happening in the black community that we can relate to, it get cancel.
I was shocked that Right-winged Fox would air something of this manner anyway!!! The 7th most viewed of their scripted shows and it’s cancelled! You are right though, black folk acting ghetto, being a rapper, and being thugs is “reality” so they keep that stereotypical drama! This is sad, but it’s FOX!

I love the show hope that they bring it back in the future.
I liked the series…I think it struck too close to home for a lot of people!! I believe that is the reason isn’t returning. Some shows that they keep are mundane at best.
Please, Please, Please bring back Shots Fired. I don’t normally watch shows like this but i was hooked from the first episode. Great Cast, Great Acting. Shot Fired to me was the best show on television. Please give it another shot.
I absolutely love this show. I look forward to Wednesday nights……..This is one that is truly worth watching. It’s about real stuff that’s happening in our society so why get rid of it. I guess because it’s not one of those hip hop shows with a bunch of drama……

This is a good show. I’ve watched from day 1 and continue to watch it. I don’t understand why you get us hooked on a good show only to let us down in the end. Too many questions unanswered. Yes I would continue watching .

I thought it was a real life show that people could identify with maybe some folks couldn’t handle that . I would have watched the second season. Great show.
