DIY is headed to Detroit. This week, the network announced their new renovation series, Sight Unseen, will premiere in July.
The series features Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland and his fiancée, Carré Callaway, fixing up their new Detroit mansion.
Sight Unseen has been ordered for six episodes.
From Borland, in a press statement:
Carpentry has always been a hobby and a passion of mine. I used to make skateboard ramps as a kid. I felt adventurous reviving this house and, admittedly, I probably took every chance I could to kick in some walls.”

New York [For Immediate Release – March 21, 2016] Rock star Wes Borland, best known as the guitarist and backup vocalist for multi-platinum rock band Limp Bizkit, and his fiancée, fellow musician Carré Callaway, traded their guitars for sledgehammers in DIY Network’s new series Sight Unseen. The six-episode series, which premieres in July, features the couple as they move to Detroit to tackle a massive whole-home fixer upper – a seven-bedroom Art Deco mansion – that they purchased after seeing only photos of the property
“Carpentry has always been a hobby and a passion of mine. I used to make skateboard ramps as a kid,” said Wes. “I felt adventurous reviving this house and, admittedly, I probably took every chance I could to kick in some walls.”
In the premiere episode, Wes and Carré walk through their new house for the first time, finding delight in the welcoming staircase of the foyer and spaciousness of the basement, but also discovering varying degrees of water damage throughout the house. The couple begins the renovation in the master suite where they convert an adjoining bedroom into a walk-in closet into a 1920s-style dressing room. Throughout the series, Wes and Carré experience the ups and downs of any major home restoration project. But as they transform this forgotten property into their new home, they feel more confident that they made the right move.
“Wes and I read obsessively about Detroit’s resurgence and the opportunity to be part of a city’s revival really resonated with us,” said Carré. “Once I saw photos of this house, I knew it was going to be our home. It all fell into place after that.”
What do you think? Are you a Limp Bizkit fan? Are you also a fan of home renovation? Will you watch Sight Unseen?
I came across Sight Unseen while channel surfing and I was HOOKED!! I love the idea of the show and Wes and Carre are great on TV. Not too much drama, like so many other shows like this. I may not have agreed with everything they did but, in the end, they are the ones who have to live there so it has to be right for them. Even if some things don’t match the viewer’s taste, no one can deny that all of the rooms ended up looking great. THE BIG DISAPPOINTMENT for me…only 6 episodes. I was enjoying… Read more »
I was channel surfing and started watching this and couldn’t stop. I had to record to finish the episodes but so glad I did. Not sure why it was so appealing but I loved it!!!
Love this show! I like their personalities and their ideas for the home. Very creative! Give us more episodes!
I watched this show a couple of times but had to stop watching after I saw them cover up tooled plaster walls that were etched to look like subway tile. They thought these tooled walls were tacky and covered them with “real” tile. From what I could see the walls were in good shape. If someone is going to renovate an historic home they should research some of the unique fixtures from that time period. People who understand that these tooled walls are historic would try to save these features instead of covering them up. I like Rehab Addict because… Read more »
A new favorite show! Love that they are in Detroit.
