The new series on FX, Terriers, has been garnering some solid reviews. But, how did it do in the ratings? Should it continue for many years or be put to sleep…er, cancelled?
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
Per the overnight ratings, the Terriers premiere looks to be underwhelming at best. The debut attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and about 1.6 million total viewers. While cable ratings are typically smaller than those of the major networks, FX has seen much better.

To put it in perspective, in September 2008, Sons of Anarchy debuted to a 1.2 rating in the key demo and 2.53 million viewers. This past March, Justified’s premiere brought in a 1.5 demo rating and 4.15 million.
Even Nip/Tuck, which had sharply declined over the years, averaged a 0.8 in the demo and 1.7 million viewers for its final season — in the same Wednesday night timeslot.
So, Terriers has gotten off to a very poor start. FX is planning to pair repeats with new installments of Sons of Anarchy. It seems doubtful but maybe this will help. Right now, it doesn’t look like Terriers will survive past its first season of 13 episodes.
But, what do you think? Is Terriers worth watching or should it be cancelled? Cancel or keep it?

that most people like have no chance. please give it another season, and see what happens. i really liked the show and want it BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bring the Teriers back…………………one of my favorite shows.
I love this show — -change the name so maybe it will attract a better audience. I really hope they rethink they. It was smart, funny and thought provoking.. I loved the characters.
Television is devoted to idiots who watch so called reality shows and any one with intelligence is left to watch great shows only to have them cancelled. I will miss Terriers and Rubicon.
So sorry to here Terriers was canceled. I was really looking forward the great chemistry between Hank and Britt.
I Can’t Beleave It…. Every Time You People Put A Good TV Show On FX You Then Take It Away….. What Kind Of Crap Is That………… I Mean Really Come On The Story Was Just Getting Good And The Plot Was Getting Thick You Can’t Cancel Now Please. There Are Many People Who Want To See More And I For One Would Love, Love, Love Not To Be Hanging So Give It Another Season And Finish The Story Line At Least Give Us That. Terriers Is A Good Show Don’t Let It Go.
We love this show. The writing was superb, a cut above network television. We even liked the name of the show. And I agree, it needed some better promotion – bring it back this summer while the rest of television sucks!
We love this show. We hope you bring it back. Promote it better or something–people just haven’t discovered it. I thought it was one of the best new shows last year and really sad if it doesn’t come back. The writing was great–we really cared about what happens to the characters.
KEEP IT KEEP IT SHOW IT SHOW IT MORE SEASONS MORE SEASONS NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!!
Terriers is one of the BEST shows on tv. You gotta believe!
If NBC was so quick to cancel shows because of 1st year ratings, Seinfeld would not have seen season 2.
You have to have faith in your quality-and Terriers is HIGH QUALITY!
DO NOT CANCEL TERRIERS!! SOMEONE NEEDS TO GET OUT AND PROMOTE THIS SHOW HARDER AND GIVE IT ONE MORE SEASON. WITH SO MANY SHOWS OUT THERE WHICH ARE NOTHING MORE THAN COPIES OF ONE ANOTHER, WE’VE GOT TO KEEP THE SHOWS WITH ORIGINALITY , TOTAL QUALITY CAST MEMBERS, AND WELL WRITTEN , STRONG, EMOTIONAL, AND ENTERTAINING STORIES. I’LL KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED FOR A GOOD OUTCOME AND WISH THE WHOLE CAST, CREW, AND ALL THOSE INVOLVED, GOOD LUCK. “TERRIERS” DESERVES ANOTHER SHOT.
Let another network buy it! HBO perhaps? Give them a good deal!! :)k
Im very upset that such a great show is being cancelled? Why not get rid of these silly shows that make people look dumb?
FX has so little of it’s own programing for it to cancel one of the best series on television seems to our family to a tremendous error in their judgment. I was just checking on line today to find out why we weren’t seeing the trailers for the new season of Terriers and was disappointed to learn of the cancellation of this program. I began to wonder who was making the decisions at this network after watching all of the hype for upcoming and coming and coming of Rescue Me with nothing ever making it on air. I would just… Read more »
