The new series on FX, Terriers, has been garnering some solid reviews. But, how did it do in the ratings? Should it continue for many years or be put to sleep…er, cancelled?
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
Per the overnight ratings, the Terriers premiere looks to be underwhelming at best. The debut attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and about 1.6 million total viewers. While cable ratings are typically smaller than those of the major networks, FX has seen much better.

To put it in perspective, in September 2008, Sons of Anarchy debuted to a 1.2 rating in the key demo and 2.53 million viewers. This past March, Justified’s premiere brought in a 1.5 demo rating and 4.15 million.
Even Nip/Tuck, which had sharply declined over the years, averaged a 0.8 in the demo and 1.7 million viewers for its final season — in the same Wednesday night timeslot.
So, Terriers has gotten off to a very poor start. FX is planning to pair repeats with new installments of Sons of Anarchy. It seems doubtful but maybe this will help. Right now, it doesn’t look like Terriers will survive past its first season of 13 episodes.
But, what do you think? Is Terriers worth watching or should it be cancelled? Cancel or keep it?

Quite possibly the worst titled show I’ve ever heard but it’s content is as good as any show I’ve seen the past few years. Programs that rely heavily on character development tend to do poorly in concerns with ratings (like The Wire), it’s just sad some folks don’t have the patience to wait an episode or two to let it pick up. On the bright side FX has shown patience with its other programs that started slowly like Louie.
Terriers is very original concept and the actually has very good acting. The series starts off slow, but each episodes it gets better and better. Hopefully this gets renewed over other worthless shows like repo man and what not.
Terriers is by far the best new show this season. People are just too stupid to appreciate it.
I just don’t understand why this fantastic show is lagging! FX’s branding of it? These ratings are a mystery to me.
I think you should keep Terriers it is one of the better shows on tv today. I would really like to see a second season
Keep terriers, yes it had a slow start but I don’t think it was commercialized enough. The show is awesome. Again another network to kill a good thing. I expect it from NBC, ABC and especially FOX but FX….COME ON!
Terriers is the best new show this season!! Please give it a chance and renew it.
Keep Terriers! It’s a great show with fantastic actors, great writing, and an interesting plot line. There are interesting recurring stories that are beleivable but not overwhelming. The weekly storylines are very clever. If SOA (normally a great show) can survive after the lame Ireland season plot, Terriers should definately be renewed.
Terriers is great. I wasn’t quite sure after watching the pilot but the show has gotten better and better each week.
oh please keep terriers. it’s the best show this year!!!
I love Terriers! Great acting, intriguing plots. What can we do to save it? I am telling everyone I know to watch it or at least record it so the network will think they are watching it.
Keep Terriers!
this show is getting better and better give the story line a chance Please keep it
Terriers is great. The acting is a cut above and the premise is highly original. Promote and find an audience. It is worth preserving something fresh!
TERRIERS is terrific! I’m 63, work 2nd shift, and can hardly wait to get home in the middle of the week to catch the latest episode I’ve DVR’d for midnight viewing.
Would really hate to lose a second season. Before it gets discontinued I hope they”ll at least make the lyrics of the theme song available. I go around whistling it all week in anticipation. The plots just keep getting better and better and the possibilities of their intermingling with previous episodes’ themes or characters is very addictive.
