The third season of The 100 TV series kicks off on The CW, tonight, at 9:00pm ET/PT. USA Today has shared an exclusive clip of The 100 season three premiere episode, featuring Bob Morley as Bellamy Blake and Ricky Whittle as Lincoln. Yes, they are shirtless; watch it, below.
USA Today also talked to creator, Jason Rothenberg, and stars, Eliza Taylor and Devon Bostick, about what is coming in the third season. It is likely all three were wearing their shirts, during the interview.
In the USA Today story, the cast and creator tease that The 100, season three, outdoes the first two seasons, where darkness is concerned:
“The reason the show is as dark as it is is because I’m a sick guy,” jokes executive producer Jason Rothenberg. “No, basically, it’s a post-apocalyptic nightmare! It’s a world about survival and ‘kill or be killed.’”
[…] Season 3 manages to partially reinvent the show again, expanding the world of the “Grounders” and bringing in more sci-fi with an artificial intelligence character.
“It is a very different season, that’s for sure,” says Rothenberg. “I like to do that. I like to change it up every year.”
[…] The show’s hero and protagonist Clarke, played by Australian actress Eliza Taylor, starts the season in exile after her role in the massacre at the end of Season 2.
“She goes through a serious emotional journey,” Taylor says. “She’s gone from absolutely running away from all her problems and not being able to cope, to her people needing her and having to come back and actually face them. … I think Clarke’s pretty jaded from everything that’s happened.”
“I wish I could say that it doesn’t get darker than a massacre of a civilization,” says Devon Bostick, who plays fan-favorite Jasper. “But from what I’ve seen and read I believe it does. … I’m excited and terrified for fans’ reactions this year.”
