Sadly, it appears that The Bridge is out. FX has announced that they won’t be producing a third season of the gritty crime thriller.
The Bridge revolves around the Mexican and American police detectives and their efforts to protect those along the Texas–Chihuahua border. The cast of this crime drama includes Demián Bichir, Diane Kruger, Matthew Lillard, Emily Rios, Ted Levine, and Thomas M. Wright.
The show debuted in July of 2013 and the first season averaged 1.77 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The second season concluded earlier this month and the season was way down in the ratings. It fell 37% in viewers (to 1.11 million) and fell 44% in the demo (down to a 0.4 rating).
FX released just a short statement regarding the cancellation: “NETWORK STATEMENT: FX will not be moving forward with a third season of The Bridge.”
What do you think? Did you like The Bridge TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a third season?
Very disappointed they cancel this program great show great in depth acting can’t believe you cancel it hopefully will return for a season three
I wonder where the program went great show great real life acting I like the depth of the character acting hope you reconsider for season three
Really a great show! Very disappointed it was cancelled. I do hope someone else picks it up. So many shows are nothing but mindless junk. The Bridge was superior–writing, acting–all of it.
The Bridge was my favorite. Outstanding acting.
Another great show that I looked forward to every week. There is so much crap that is still on the air yet shows like The Bridge (a well acted and well scripted series) bites the dust. FX has some excellent stuff and this was one of the best. It was relevant, different and not your usual murder drama. Oh well.
love the show ( WHAT CAN SAY)
The Bridge was the only regular network show that I considered must-see television. I came in early in season 2 and purchased the DVD for season 1 in order to get caught-up. Not as riveting as, say, True Detective or Game of Thrones, but far more interesting than anything else on television. When I look at the network dramas that get high ratings, it’s fairly obvious, with rare exceptions, that people want a formula, a show that resolves itself within one episode and leaves nothing dangling, and a show where the characters don’t go through complex arcs but rather arrive… Read more »
Agree completely with what Sarvalol Kacharine says. Best drama on commercial TV — superior scripts, actors, direction, filming — so of course it gets canceled. Back to the BBC.
Great great series and superb acting….but your right, way over the domes of many people. I am so hoping a network with intelligent goers jump on this series.

“The Bridge” is an intelligent, very well written show. The acting is superb. I think the low ratings unfortunately reflect an audience that does not like intelligent story lines and suspense. Nice to have a show without big actor names. The show was not campy or gimmicky, no forced or staged humor.
Bad Idea for FX to cancel another Great T.V. Show.
I am getting sick and tired of those few shows that I cherish. Firefly, Copper, Almost Human, the list goes on. And as much as I want to blame the networks, it comes down to people not watching these wonderful shows. I’m left to assume that things like good writing, excellent acting, as well as often (not always) good cinematography count for nothing. I hate to say it, but I’m willing to bet if a series had been made from the movie(?) ‘Dude, Where’s My Car?’, the ratings would have raised the roof.
Great show, will be missed. We fans deserve a closing to the story line.
Some other savvy network could pick up this show and make tons of appreciative fans and maybe even some cash!!
I’m looking at you Netflix.
If Netflix can pick up Longmire……a good show ….but not as timely or intense as The Bridge…..maybe they can be swayed !
I love the bridge. My favorite. The only one I look forward watch.
Great Show,
Too bad – compared to the dreck on TV , a real bad decision !
