If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
I hope it’s not cancelled. Make it a mid-season show if nothing else or at least don’t leave viewers hanging like so many other shows that get cancelled. Might be why it has low ratings people are tired of starting to watch shows for them to be cancelled before they even really begin.
I like it and miss it.
We have really enjoyed watching The Code, no violence, sex or language. Please reconsider and put this show back on.
another good decent show being canceled because American values have changed to younger generations, of silly sitcoms, reality tv, wonder what kind of rating gunsmoke, Lassie, knight rider, ect would get today if it aired now for the first time? sad isn’t it.
The show is good, however, it needs more punch. More gritty acting and more suspenseful military courtroom drama.
I enjoy watching The Code but I’ll admit I have only watched it through the app and never during its time slot which I don’t even know when that is.
We have faithfully watched The Code and looked forward to it each week. We have lost faith in prime time network shows in recent years and have enjoyed having a show of substance without a lot of sex and language to look forward to. We will be greatly disappointed if it doesn’t return!!!
We liked the Code and was looking forward to this episode. We hate these silly sitcoms that seem to be taking over.
I really like The Code and will be sorry to see it go. The networks pull shows too quickly now. They don’t give the shows a chance to flesh out the characters at all anymore. I hope they give this a chance.
The Code: It is an excellent cast but the story lines tend to be too female oriented, slow, and weak for a Marine saga. The two male leads are great but weakened by the story line. The show needs new writers and a new night; its concept is too similar to Bull. Fix the show and hang on to Luke Mitchell who will attract the audience you want
It has been 2 weeks without The Code. Please shows us the rest of the season. Please gives a second chance to The Code.
Why stop the shows?? Why does big networks think the neilson rating count when everybody love the show?? I am disappointed that The Code wasnt showing last Monday night or next Monday with 3 more eposides to go. Why do the big Networks keep cancel the shows we people loves to watch???
Cancelling the code
Would be a big mistake, please reconsider
I like The Code much more than Magnum. We watch very little TV, and The Code was one we enjoyed. Please don’t cancel!
Please do not cancel this show.
