As expected A&E has cancelled The Glades after four seasons on the air. There won’t be a fifth season or wedding for Jim (Matt Passmore) and Callie (Kiele Sanchez).
The dramedy began in July 2010 and it became their first scripted series to last more than a season. The cancellation comes days after The Glades’ fourth season finale attracted 3.41 million viewers. This was the show’s most-watched episode since the series premiere which drew 3.55 million.
Unfortunately, the fourth season as a whole was down by 14% year-to-year and The Glades was the cable channel’s lowest-rated scripted series. It didn’t help that the show was also produced by Fox, an outside studio, so A&E didn’t have a financial stake in the show’s future.
Of course, the real losers are the fans. The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger with Jim being shot in the chest by an unknown assailant. Hopefully the producers will find a way to give faithful viewers an idea of what might have happened in season five.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that The Glades has been cancelled? How would you have resolved the cliffhanger? Should Jim and Callie be together?
I believe that to your loyal fans of the Glades that you should show season five or at least who shot Jim and how they find out who it was and whether or not Jim lives. Whether him and Callie finally get their happy ever after or not. Real shame to end this way.
I am disappointed to find they did not finish with a special finale and not pulled with all of us wondering. I would have had Carlos go to the house and found Jim. Calie meeting them at the hospital. The team will figure this one out without Jim. The Marshall was in it the whole time with Calie’s ex, because of money. Jim is saved. Forward months down the road to Jim, Calie and her son happy in the new home.
Please bring Season 5 of the Glades. I’m an old woman living in Florida and I loved it.
Pls bring Season 5 of The Glades! PLEASE
I watched The Glades the first go round and just found it on Prime and bought all 4 seasons, loved this show and I think Fox, A&E or Prime should make an ending episode / movie for it. Maybe pick it up from the wedding party with Jim not showing and the drama that would cause at a wedding. To him being found in the house and rushed to the hospital and work from there to complete the ending. Since it has been 7 years they would have to get different actors unless it started as a flash back with… Read more »
My mom and I just found this series on Prime and love it, we’ve just started the 4th series and we’re so disappointed to find out it’s the last. Such a shame.
Me and my mom just found this on Hulu. We loved the show since we are from the Glades and the cast had the humor on top of romance and intrigue. However, we were EXTREMELY disappointed in the ending to season 4. If they were cancelling it they should have let Jim and Callie get married and end on a positive not a “who shot Jim”
I loved the Glades. I am so angry that we were left hanging like that. Please bring it back if for no other reason than to finish it properly.
Soooo disappointing how this series ended – I loved it and am hoping that A&E will bring it back or at least one episode/movie to bring closure. Was really looking forward to seeing Callie & Jim married!!!!
I just watched both seasons on hulu for the second time and decided to Google to find out when the fifth season would air I’m heart broken I hope the producer changes there minds and do season 5. Do leave us fans hanging
So disappointed this show was cancelled, absolutely loved it. Please consider at least making a movie as the end to season 4 cliff hanger so fans can see how the story ends.
My husband is so very upset with the producer for canceling …seriously what a lousy way to treat fans… Very good show and too cute crew!
At least give viewers some kind of ending after faithfully watching the series without missing an episode
At least give viewers a hint of an ending. That wasn’t the worst
I just finished the show, I thought it was very good . I’d love to watch a few more sessions of it. Very well written. Each episode was great and kept you wanting to watch the next episode. We have to have one more season. Jim can survive this!!! Please please. . Patty
