The end is nigh. With the series finale of FXX’s The League airing tonight, creator Jeff Schaffer spoke to TVLine about the end of the series and what he hopes fans get out of it.
The semi-improvised comedy, which stars Nick Kroll, Paul Scheer, Jon Lajoie, Mark Duplass, Stephen Rannazzisi, and Kate Aselton as members of a fantasy football league, first premiered on FX in 2009.
Speaking to TVLine, Schaffer said the finale will feel “like any other episode of The League.” He also mentioned that while certain storylines will be wrapped up, he hopes the finale will have fans saying “‘I can’t wait to see what happens,’ or, ‘I have to see another one.’”
The finale will see the return of Shiva, Paulie Litt’s The Oracle, and “the coolest guest star we’ve ever had on the show,” Schaffer said. Word is that guest star will be none other that Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s Larry David.
The season finale airs tonight on FXX and will be a full 30 minutes long, instead of the normal 22. Schaffer mentioned that an extended, hour-long version of the finale will be available at some point.

My husband and I just binged watched The League and it is by far our favorite series ever. We told our fantasy league “The Denver Diehards” a group of 14 and they are now binge watching as well and said it is hilarious. We are mimicking the Shiva and Sacko (Ruxin) trophies. I sure hope it comes back. Miss it much.

Well my whole opinion on this site that this show needsome to continue its got me thru alot if rough times in my life since it’s been on TV I love the show ND the cast they are like my frinds I do not have in my life anymore.. so please producers ND the network I hopersonally u guys can help keep this series goin I need it in my life as well so other fans
Im abit late in leaving a comment, as ive just found out about the league through netflix, it has an evil sense of humor too it, but it wss amazing, i was gutted when i got to the end, i will cetrinally miss pete and rafi the most, but kevin and taco are brilliant!!. Andre’s charecter wss really strange but had some strong points, ruxin was absolutly brilliant! I wish they could be more as i enjoyed it, and wanted to know why it has ended?..

This show has a fantastic evil sense of humor that I will miss if this show is truly gone. One of my favorites that I have enjoyed watching for years!
Let us hope netflix has the good sense to buy some episodes…the characters are great…Sorry Scarecrow, I miss Taco’s dumb ass the most but angry, ranting, semites are in short supply around here too..Hell, truth be told, I miss the whole gang…that awkward douche Andre makes me more uncomfortable than my mother talking about using tampons..And dirty Randy and Rafi “hot dog pockets” are more vile than any guy who mentions his mothers menses in a comment section..In short I am ready for some football, The League style.
This is show is brilliant! I have no idea about what they are talking about via all the sports babble, but I love the characters and all the situations they get themselves in. They have a rare dynamic and I would love to see several more seasons. Put it on Netflix and get away from FX.
Someone has to realize how stupid it would be to cancel this. Get more seasons and then make a movie!!!

My all time favorite show by a mile. Have rewatched so many times and am so sad its over. Please bring it back somehow. Why would you end it after 7 amazing seasons
