Singer Boyce Ballantine (Cedric the Entertainer) hopes to make a new life as a minister — while TV Land is hoping that The Soul Man is a big success in the ratings. Others in the show’s cast include Niecy Nash, John Beasley, Jazz Raycole, and Wesley Jonathan.
The comedy’s ratings are the best way to tell if The Soul Man will be cancelled or renewed for a second season. The first season typically airs Wednesday nights on TV Land and there are 12 episodes.

What do you think? Do you like The Soul Man TV series? Do you think that it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I liked the show. Wholesome and funny! Hard to find these days.
[…] Soul Man premiered in late June to a very healthy 1.9 million viewers with a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Those are solid number sfor the small cable channel but they didn’t last. The second episode frell to 1.2 million and a 0.3 rating. The third dropped again, to 807,000 viewers. […]
I think this show should be renewed because being a firstlady I enjoyed having someone on my standard in the church thar is keeping it real.
Please don’t cancel. It is a show that the whole fam could watch. Not many out there!!
And also I agree with some of the others that the show is sending mixed messages about Christian values. The show’s focus should be clarified. Cedric and Niecy are a winning combination and deserve an opportunity to prove themselves.
I believe the show should have a chance to prove itself.
A WONDERFUL SHOW, WITH STORY LINES THAT MANY CAN RELATE TO AND LEARN FROM. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT SEASON!!!!!!!
CXL it…nothing against Ced and Miss Niecy, but it really sends a distorted message of religion and faith…its a parody and a very misleading portrayal of the black church and church leaders.
Love this show! Keep it!!
Keep it definitely one of the best shows on tv
fun show – keep it
It’s a keeper. Funnier than most shows on T.V.
Cancel it. It just the typical down play of the African American church that white America wants to believe.
Love this show!! Please renew for a 2nd Season!
Keep it!! Great fun–well done.
