To little surprise, CBS has pulled Three Rivers from the Sunday night schedule, effective immediately. Will the show be back? Has it been cancelled?
Three Rivers follows a group of dedicated doctors and medical staffers who help those in need of organ transplants. The series stars Alex O’Loughlin, Katherine Moennig, Daniel Henney, Justina Machado, Christopher Hanke, Amber Clayton, and Alfre Woodard.
The medical drama got off to a slow start in the ratings back in early October. Unfortunately, the numbers only got worse as the weeks wore on and it became a likely candidate for early cancellation.
To CBS’ credit, the network has been patient with the series and has kept it on the air. Two weeks ago, the network tried switching timeslots with Cold Case. While the veteran crime drama benefited from the time change and attracted more viewers, Three Rivers did not.
Three Rivers has now been pulled from the Sunday night schedule. As expected, Cold Case will slip into the earlier timeslot and repeats of various crime dramas will take over at 10pm.
A CBS spokesperson has said that Three Rivers’ fate has not yet been decided but the network has not ordered any additional installments beyond the initial 13 episodes.
Eight episodes of the drama have been aired, leaving five on the shelf. CBS will likely burn them off either on Saturdays or during the summer months but, unless the execs have a major change of heart, Three Rivers is essentially cancelled.
What do you think? What went wrong with Three Rivers? Is Sunday night football to blame for the show’s failure to attract more viewers or was the show flawed?

three rivers is a great show..I’m very upset about the fact that it was canceled
i normally don’t get too attached to tv shows however this one had promise. it figures somthing good on tv and it’s flushed. go figure.
I loved Three Rivers. I’m looking each Sunday evening and nothing. What is wrong with CBS? First, Without a Trace and now this. I will boycott CBS.
I thought 3 Rivers an exceptional show. I am truly disappointed that is was cancelled. Some of the other stuff on TV is so below par but this show was good and real and good for people to see.
I am soo bummed that this show has been cancelled. I loved the show. Being a kidney transplant survivor I especially can relate to alot of the episodes. I am going to miss the show.
PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!
I loved Three Rivers!! I live just north of Pittsburgh & thought it was awesome that they used Pittsburgh as the setting. I think it didn’t make it because of Sunday night football…you never knew when the show was coming on! I stayed up late only to find Cold Case on – I do NOT watch that show. Any show with Alex O’Laughlin in it can only be GOOD! Moonlight was also a favorite of mine that was cancelled.
I think that Football is to blame for this. Three Rivers was never on at the same time every week. Because the game schedules would change or go over. This means that anyone who was DVRing the show was unable to watch it. I was and still am a huge fan of this show and for them to cancel this show is devestating. I think that they need to pick a better time slot during the week and the success of this show would be better.
My husband and I really enjoyed Three Rivers. We think the Sunday night schedule during the football season made it hard for the show to find a following. A co-worker of mine also liked it and feels the same way. Please reconsider cancelling this show. Not everyone wants to watch Desperate Housewives!!!
Three Rivers was a great show. My family watched it every week. Sorry its not on any longer.
Three Rivers was a great show… my favorite show all week…one of the problems was how football games delayed its starting time every week and then moving it to an even later time by switching it with Cold Case.. this made the show’s time pushed much too late as a Sunday late evening show! It was a tremendously great show!!
Excellent show. I watched every episode aired. Too bad its been cancelled. The decision makers should rethink their decision to pull it.
whatever,
how can you say that obamacare would not kill off the elderly have you not been keeping up with congress, and the Three Rivers show is a great show, it the show lost ratings because no one watched it then how come all these comments about Three Rivers are all positive. Someone higher up must of thought it was a conflict with there policy…..
OMGosh! Pam and Lorrie you are so off the mark! Here, here, Ann. Straighten these misguided ladies out. Do not take this to a level where it does not belong. Then we will sound like a bunch of idiots! Keep the focus .
Three Rivers is an amazing show and the only CBS show I watch. I was hooked from the 1st episode. The cast is remarkable and it is one of the few shows that sends a message of HOPE. It is my medical drama fix, since the ending of ER. I’ll truly be disappointed if it is cancelled, just like Moonlight.
