You guys wanna get Rufus back, or what? NBC, which cancelled its Timeless TV show in the wake of an enormous season two finale cliffhanger, is bringing back the Lifeboat for one more trip through time. The Peacock Network announced today that it has ordered a two-part Timeless TV series finale, which is expected to air during the winter holidays. The #Clockblockers have prevailed against the malign forces of Rittenhouse, if in a smaller way than most had hoped.
An NBC action-adventure series, Timeless stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey, and Claudia Doumit. As the Time Team, their mission is to prevent the destruction of the world as we know it, by villains intent upon messing with the timeline. Susanna Thompson, Annie Wersching, and Michael Rady recur in season two as members of the nemesis organization, Rittenhouse. NBC officially cancelled Timeless last month. And that was the second cancellation. The time travel drama was also cancelled, then renewed following its first season on the network.
Cancelled TV Show Timeless Renewed for a Two-Part Series Finale
Fans, who style themselves “#Clockblockers,” have been rallying hard for a continuation of the Eric Kripke-Shawn Ryan drama, since prior to the season two finale. Recently, the Save Timeless team hired a helicopter (or ‘heliclockter’) to fly a banner over San Diego Comic-Con. (Footage is sideways.)

NBC RESHAPES HISTORY WITH TWO-PART ‘TIMELESS’ SERIES FINALE
The Time-Traveling Gang Get Back Together One Last Time for Holiday Television Event
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – July 31, 2018 – Hey Clockblockers, your mission is complete!
NBC and Sony Pictures Television are collaborating on a two-part “Timeless” finale to air during the holidays, giving closure to the globetrotting series that has generated incredible viewer passion.
According to executive producers Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke, audiences can expect the “Timeless” they know and love. A focus on the unsung and underrepresented people of history. And most importantly, one final emotional story for the Time Team.
“We’re excited to tell one final chapter to this incredible story,” said Lisa Katz, Co-President, Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “A huge thank you to all – our cast, crew, producers and partners at Sony – who have worked so very hard, and to the fans who kept us on our toes and made sure we did our very best week after week.”
“While we wish we could’ve made another dozen seasons of ‘Timeless,’ this is the next best thing,” said Ryan and Kripke. “We’re thrilled to take the Lifeboat out for one last spin and bring closure to our story. The studio, network, cast and crew are all doing this for one reason only: the fans. Because they deserve it. Because the fans made this happen and we thank them for their passion, support and helicopters. So? You guys want to get Rufus back or what?”
The cast includes Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Višnjić, Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit.
Shawn Ryan and Eric Kripke are the creators, writers and executive producers. Tom Smuts and Arika Lisanne Mittman are co-showrunners and executive producers. Don Kurt, Greg Beeman, John Davis, John Fox and Marney Hochman also executive produce.
“Timeless” is a production of Sony Pictures Television, Davis Entertainment, MiddKid Productions and Kripke Enterprises.
What do you think? Will you watch the Timeless TV series finale, this winter, on NBC? Will that be enough? Let us know, below.
I will DEFINITELY watch the finale, although before and after which I will no longer watch anything on NBC. The network took off the best show in years that was something the entire family could watch and learn from, but keeps garbage shows that adults couldn’t care less to watch. Why can’t a network with some class (like Netflix) pick up the series for Season 3 rather than a rush through finale?
Remember when they cancelled Journey Man after one season, Another good one. Often times if the CEO does not like a show it gets shot down.
YES, YES, YES, I definitely will watch it. Any change it ca be saved as a series????
Of course I will watch!!! I am SO excited that the powers that be FINALLY decided to at least give the fans a real conclusion to the story. Of course – I wish that the series would go on forever – it was one of the BEST shows ever on TV – and it is a true shame that they did not do more to save it. With all of the crap reality shows out there – this was a true shining star!
I really got to like this series. Actors were very appealing and plots always interesting. I urge some network to pick up series and give us more Timeless!
So glad they are at least giving us a 2 part finale….bring the series back would be even better 🙂
Best news ever, short of a whole new season. At least we won’t all die wondering if Rufus really did! I will definitely be watching!
Me too hope it’s a 2 hour two parter that way we get 4 hours. LOL
I am already looking forward to it! So glad there will be more to enjoy. It was the best new show on network tv and I only hope beyond hope that they can find a way to make it work on a recurring basis. This will be a great addition to the two fabulous seasons. I am so grateful we well get to see the show played through to its natural end! Thanks for keeping the faith fans!!!!
Absolutely! I’ll be watching! Are you kidding?!? I can’t wait. I’ve already seen all the episodes 3 or more times each, conservatively. I’m so thankful for this, but also hope they leave a writable avenue for the possibility of return. Some how, some way, by someone. But, that’ll be easy enough to do. This show could have been so much more successful under different circumstances! And, again, WOW. Thanks!
I agree with Gregory Barnes: Yessss!!!
Yes, I will definitely watch it. Why do they keep really awful shows like the apprentice on the air for years and kick off good shows like Timeless. I will watch it, but I’m still pissed they canceled it.
One word….YES!!!
An intelligent, fun, and often funny show, with great all-American characters and stories that tell us about our country and its history. . . what’s not to like? OF COURSE I’ll watch it. . . it’s not Season 3, BUT. . . better than nothing!
Hey NBC finally did something right! Though a full 3rd season would have been way better!
Yes, I will watch because I love this series!
I left Timeless in my DVR this time, so I am primed and ready. It will be interesting to see how much besides the obvious, getting Rufus back, that they tie up in a neat package.
